Doesn't seem to work on MacOS 10.5.7 with SB 1.2b1. It installs correctly, but I got no notification (my other Growl apps work without problem).

are you running a dev build of Growl? the instructions say "Requires a version of Growl that supports GNTP, such as Growl for Windows (http://www.growlforwindows.com) or a development build of Growl on OSX (http://growl.info)." - the latest public release of Growl on OSX doesnt have the GNTP support included yet.

True, I am using 1.1.4. However, I can't find the development build even on the developers part of the site, do you have a direct link?

check the second post in this thread - i think you can grab the necessary code from bitbucket:

Apparently the thread does not exist anymore. Mind providing an updated link to a dev build? Either way, would I need to compile source code? I'm not very techno-savvy so if that's the case I'll need instructions on what to do with it. But I'm really glad someone is working on Growl notifications for Songbird again. Thanks.

here is a better link: http://forums.cocoaforge.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=20013#p116242

from the sounds of it, yes, you would need to build from source. unfortunately, i dont have any instructions on how to do it (i am a lowly Windows user).

Using Growl 1.2 on OS X 10.6.1. The add-on installed correctly, I see it in the Growl.prefPane, settings seem to be correct, but no notifications.

About MAC users: This add-on uses the GNTP protocol. This is currently available in Growl 4 Windows only. The Mac version of Growl will support GNTP in one of their next versions. Please check www.growl.info for updates.

@sauerkraut: What german language? I compared this and your current versions: Except of the creator tag inside the install.rdf are all files identical?!

Great Add-on, thanks!
However, I mainly use embedded cover art (resources) and these do not display.
So I made some modifications to display them as well :)

How could I sent you the code so you can integrate my changes in your next release (if you want to) ?

Hi,

I tried to configure notification via network with this add-on, but I didn't get it to run. Songbird is installed on a host which is running Windows XP. I use the latest Songbird version. On the other computer Windows 7 Prof. and the latest Growl version is running.

Now, if I try to subscribe to new notifications and choose "Subscribe to Growl notifications on another machine", fill in a Name und the IP address of the computer Songbird is running on, I get the massage "server unavailable" after a few seconds. What do I do wrong? Thanks.

All applications send their notifications to the local installed growl only.

To subscribe notifications from other computers, you have to install Growl (for Windows) there too. You can take a look into the help of GfW:

Hi Henning,

thanks for your quick response. That was the major clue. Because I thought, the add-on forwards on its own, I skipped this part of the help. Well, now it's working. Thank you!

Is it possible the reuse the last notification or close the last notification when a new notification is sent from Songbird ? Like the SongSnarl add-on does in snarl ? Is this an option in snarl or does it have to be done from the add-on ? Thanks !

What I mean is always have one notification window at the time instead of stacking them if you start to skip several tracks

Thanks for this suggestion. I'll take a look into it and try to add it as a new option.

Hey, thanks for the great work. I have a suggestion. Is it possible to add a shortcut key to display current playing song? I think it would be useful.
