Very Nice CuriousG! And thanks for the info about the Discogs API...
This is an update of the old Discogs Cover Fetcher written by Slate8. It has been updated to work with Songbird's 1.1.x's new internal Album Art Manager.
This fetcher will download cover art from http://www.discogs.com/ which has a great selection of covers for the more obscure albums including vinyl releases.
Limitations
This add-on works by searching Discogs using the artist and album name. The first release in the search results is then requested from Discogs. Then the first image is downloaded from the first album returned in the search results. This means that to download one album cover takes three http requests. The Discog API documentation mentions "API usage is limited to 5,000 requests per 24-hour period, per IP address". For this reason it may only be possible to download 1,333 album covers from Discogs within a 24 hour period with this addon.
For big collections I recommend you set this fetcher as the lowest priority in the Album Art Manager's settings. This means that requests are only sent to Discogs when album art can not be found from any other fetchers you may have setup.

Please put pictures ;)
Thanks for updating! :)
Any plans to possibly make it so one could grab track information from Discogs as well?
Any plans to update it for Songbird 1.2.0?
Yes, please update this to work with the latest version of Songbird. The currently available cover addons for the latest version do not handle my Electronica/IDM collection that well....
K, fixed it myself :)
When you download this .xpi addon, rename it to .zip so you can edit the file 'install.rdf'.
Edit the part called '<em:maxversion>' to 1.2.1, so it looks like this : http://www.grabout.com/Default.aspx?i=9269cc23-6563-4ba1-af14-839cfa64d640
Save the file, repack the zip, and rename back to .xpi. Now it installs fine, and works great.
Thanks for the tip.
What did you use to re-zip the file?
I'm on a MAC and using the built in compression didn't work. I also tried installing YemuZip and choosing the 'Windows' zip option but both result in Songbird error:
Install script not found
-204
Thanks for any help, discogs is the only place that has cover art for my EDM.
Cheers,
i need this addon for songbird 1.4.3, because discogs is the only useful cover art source for ripped vinyls in my library
I tried @Xaraz's approach with 1.8 but it didn't work. It installed ok, but didn't do anything.
Would be nice if this were updated for 1.8. SB 1.10 isn't far off either. Is this hard to do? Perhaps you could explain what's involved for others to do the work.

Thanks!!!
