Try installing Mycroft Project - All for any search engine you like espew,discogs etc...
RC1.0 seems great so far. can't seem to search from the library anymore. not sure if was a plugin.

I installed your extension (v. 1.0.2) with no problems on songbird 1.0rc2. However, when I removed the extension from the add-ons menu and restarted songbird, the google search box was still listed. It was removed once I manually removed it using the 'manage search engine list'

Totally useful for anyone who ever performs a web search ever in Songbird. Why isn't this included by default?!

could someone make one of these but for a search engine not owned by google, yahoo, or msn? seeing as how google has announced theyre going to begin censoring results i don't see much point in it's use anymore.

You can already search many plugins and create your own as in firefox.

Using Songbird 1.4.0b3, Build 1303 (20091007151134) and
I just gotta have a working NoScript. So I edited NoScript 1.9.9.15.

Here's the unofficial NoScript 1.9.9.15 I'm using with Songbird 1.4.* : addon-722a-latest.xpi

Disclaimer: If you know nothing about xpi files wait for ashughes to release the official Songbird version.
