Nice!
This was very much needed. Thanks!
Please update for 1.0 pleeeeeeeeeeeease!!!!!
Try installing Mycroft Project - All for any search engine you like espew, discogs etc...
RC1.0 seems great so far. can't seem to search from the library anymore. not sure if was a plugin.
I installed your extension (v. 1.0.2) with no problems on songbird 1.0rc2. However, when I removed the extension from the add-ons menu and restarted songbird, the google search box was still listed. It was removed once I manually removed it using the 'manage search engine list'
Totally useful for anyone who ever performs a web search ever in Songbird. Why isn't this included by default?!
A+!
could someone make one of these but for a search engine not owned by google, yahoo, or msn? seeing as how google has announced theyre going to begin censoring results i don't see much point in it's use anymore.
umm...for some reason i can't download Google Search
the install button is gray
can someone tell me how to make dis work
@juggalostoney, the INSTALL button will appeared grayed out for any add-on that is not registered to work with the version of Songbird you are using. In this case, Google Search is registered to work with Songbird 0.7 -> 1.0.*. If you are using a build before 0.7 or a build 1.1 or later, you will not be able to install this addon.
That said, I have made a mental note to update this add-on to support 1.2.*.
Cheers!
@knightabraxas, yes someone could. This add-on is rather simple. It just adds an OpenSearch xml file for Google to Songbird. You could simply take this add-on, extract it, add whatever OpenSearch xml file you want and repackage it into an xpi. Voila!
I am working on a torrent-based add-on that does this exactly for 5 different torrent sites.
In fact, you do not even need an add-on to do this. There is a searchplugins folder in the Songbird install directory. You can copy any OpenSearch xml file into this folder and Songbird will add the search engine automatically to your list of available search engines.
knightabraxas
You can already search many plugins and create your own as in firefox.
You may have missed my post above.
Browse in songbird to:
http://mycroft.mozdev.org/search-engines.html
or
http://www.searchplugins.net/pluginlist.aspx
gigablast is OK. google sound rocks
ashughes, i think the mental note might have gotten lost : (
Why won't it let me download it?
Update please!
Can anyone update this?
why i cant download it?????
this worked for me:
1- load this page on Microsoft Internet Explorer
2- Donwload add-on
3- Songbird Menu file-open file
4- install
Sorry guys, I've been hellabusy (yeah, I said 'hella') with school and working on Birdtorrent. I'll be sure to update Google Search this week.
I have just updated this add-on to work with Songbird 1.2.*. Enjoy!
