Birdtitle is an addon for Songbird that allows you to change Songbird's window title to whatever you want, such as the current song being played, make track information scroll on your taskbar and act as a track change notifier.
To change Songbird's window title, go to Tools > Birdtitle preferences...

- If you have Birdtitle's notifier set not to display its
notification box on every song change, but display it
every time a song stops playing, the notifier will still
display it after every song change as on every song
change, Songbird reports that the previously playing
song has stopped playing. This is planned to be addressed
either in a future version of Birdtitle or once Birdtitle's notifier gets spun off as a separate
addon.
I have been unable to reproduce the bug. Open up the Javascript Console on Songbird (Tools > Error Console) and try it again. Did the console display an error after pressing the OK button? If so, then copy the displayed error and post it below.
Never mind. I found the bug.
I really like the add-on. However, a lot of Unicode characters won't work, I can enter them into the input field for the string, but they will appear only as blocks or something totally different in the title bar (I don't know whose fault that this -- maybe JS's?). Perhaps you could enable HTML-style abbreviations. In particular, I'd like —es ("—"). @hxcobd: scrolling is annoying and for me it's not a feature to always be distracted from the rest I'm doing — I wonder why that found its way into Songbird's miniplayer.
Great extension, but on 0.2.5 on Vista (don't know about any other os), when Birdtitle is enabled, the 'back' button in the browser stops working, I would assume forward does as well, but since I couldn't go back, I couldn't test it. The other navigation buttons work fine.
Wooooo the new notify function is nice I already uninstalled all other notify ad dons ^^
If the track notification once is enabled there is no way to disable it please fix it thanks.

Hi I prefer your song notifier to the one of the album art ad don by stevo, more preferences etc. but there is no album art in the notifier, so maybe you can work together wit stevo and ad a support for his album art ad-on. It would be great. Thanks for reflecting on my suggestion. ;-)
Can you make this compatible with Sonbird 0.6?? It’s a great addon, and that’s why I want to use it on 0.6, too…
when I switch to the mini player, the taskbar goes back to the default song bird 0.6.1
Is that a bug, or just not a feature yet?
This is a WONDERFUL extension. Has everything I need. I basically use it for the notifier, which is PERFECT. All I'm asking for is a checkbox to let you close the notification if you click anywhere on it. It still does everything I want it to, 10/5!
If you could add in a way to change the text colors of the notifications it would be amazing. But right now I can't read it because of the feather I'm using. Black text on a black bg just doesn't work.
Should be included by default in Songbird.

This is a really nice add-on, but it would be a lot more useful to me if you had a tag called $menu$ which indicated the position of where the menus should go (if at all) on the bar. I want to put something like this...

...in the top menu bar. Otherwise at the moment the menu options slide to the right after everything else, which is annoying when the title on the right changes its width.
I named my Songbird "Goldfish", according to the new program-icon :-D

Suggestion.... Make the text for the pop up customizable. Right now it is black on very dark gray and i cant read it.

I agree with SnoringFrog. I'm using the YABS feather and you can't read the text because it's black on black. Fix please!
Oh dear! I just figured out, that this add-on has Track-Notifications! =) I didn't take a look at this Add-on before, because I didn't need the title-changing-thingy, but your Notification rocks! It's the best notification-system for Songbird right now, better then the other Add-ons for this.

To the ones with YABS-Problems: I will skin the Notification soon. Then it will look a little bit better with YABS.

Hi - Would be great if the notifier window could be popped up on-demand using a global hotkey (ie not just on status changes but if eg mid-song I want to see the track info w/o switching to the SB app). This is a function I use all the time in winamp with the Toaster plugin. Toaster is, strangely, one of the main reasons I have not yet abandoned winamp in favor of SB.
Also, custom color settings and slightly more advanced layout options of the notifiy window would be a big plus, eg, font size, color, etc.

Stevo at Songbird has been looking for some help on his addons, and the staff is looking for helpers. Thing is, you have a 'notify me' function in this addon that could take the place of one of his.

I would like an tag that shows how much time a song has left till the end. Something like $timeleft$. Hope you can do this for me and the others who would like this.

I got a nasty bug with the version 0.4.1 and songbird 1.1.1 under windows seven, it puts songbird in mute, i have to go to the sound parameters of windows seven to demute songbird, and it happens randomly but often (something like every 30s to 2min max)
I had to disable it... no idea why it does that, previous versions were fine

But there's one thing bugging me, when no song is playing, the titlebar button just shows a " - ", which isn't too sexy, like this:

But one really important, and not that hard to implement feature: $rating$
And please don't use the unicode characters, but rather the feathers default star-class.
There's a simple workaround to everyone who dont like the " - " title.
Locate your addon install folder. Mine were:
C:\Users\Jakob\AppData\Roaming\Songbird2\Profiles\0kweaajs.default\extensions\birdtitle@hectoravila.com\chrome\content
Now open the file "birdtitle.js" in your favorite editor, and take a looke at line 90. It should look something like:

Now AFTER that line insert this code:

Now restart Songbird, and it should work ;)
Great add on, but there's a small bug:
The $genre$ tag doesn't work in the notifier - it always appears blank.
Good add on but ever since songbird 1.2 I have had an issue..I want the just the track time and total time to be displayed in the taskbar but it seems to be changing from what i set it at and the normal scrolling of the track name and artist constantly.
found the problem...there seems to be a conflict with the minimise to tray addon...

I have one request, please add $rating$ to the notifier. If possible also the ability to rate tracks from the notifier.
I think I have found a bug:
When $status$ is used in the title, on PAUSED nothing is used instead the tag.

I modified the addon to work with the latest Songbird. You can get it at http://addons.songbirdnest.com/addon/1973
extensions.checkCompatibility was recently removed. The only other option is to edit the .xpi or install the nightly builds addon to force old addons to install.
