Hey, I just discovered a problem with it. I use this on windows vista, and when I want to change the metadata of a song that is currently playing, I get an error that says I don't got writing permissions. This doesn't happen with the addon disabled.

This add-on does not work for me. I try to play protected Windows Media files and it pops open my browser and takes me to the Microsoft page explaining why I can't play that song. I close the page and it opens again and again and it won't stop until you pick another song. I'm using Vista. I tried re-installing the add-on but that did not help. Has anyone else seen this?

If you've found this trying to figure out how to get songbird to work on ubuntu, this is what worked for me...

Go to your synaptic package manager and search gstreamer. install all of that.

I'm having problems renewing the license for DRM protected content. It seems like the plugin is trying to open a browser instance but gets blocked for some reason. Worked flawlessly in Songbird versions prior to 1.2.

Please get this working for Linux. Linux is gaining popularity in the netbook market, and people probably will want to use their new netbooks with their old WMA files. I don't own a netbook, but I know a ton of students on my campus who do use teh Linux-based netbooks.

Isn't this available for Linux because of copyrights? Well, it doesn't matter anyway, I was planing on converting all the .wma files that I have to .mp3 and now that I think about it, I don't understand why I didn't rip all my music in .ogg from the start... Maybe because my portable media player is a Pocket PC, but still, I have a great .ogg player in it.

works fine, but I have encountered problems while opening WMA streams from internet, for example Planet Rock radio uses it. Songbird can't determine stream format even with Windows Media Playback plugin on.

for those who ask about downloading, are you running windows? if so, then maybe its being worked on, but being windows, your codecs should handle play back automatically. Linux and MAC, your reasons for no download should be obvious....
