Description
A simple iTunes Theme for Songbird 0.8pre, based on the Theme "iBird" by "Windsurfer".
Should look like iTunes, I used iTunes 6.0.1.3 and also took the screenshots from there.

The apple is too 3D. the actual iTunes one is more… flat?
the feather works, but the bottom scroll bar is messed up. i think it’s reusing the one from the side bar over and over again, so i get a weird look.
it needs some work, but i’m just so happy to finally have a Mac-like feather for my Linux pc that i really could care less how good it looks, as long as it completes my theme. thank you!
Hello! This by far the best skin now available for iTunes.
But i see some problems:
-the bottom scrollbar (all the world already did say that!)
–A dark pixel between left panel and main area at the top
–The active tab does not have enough “self-evidence” for the user to think it is the active.
–The downloads window seems “black text over black blackground”
–The buttons (except “New playlist”) have a very 2D appearance (example: Menu Tools > Create Extension…) which is not consistent with the main window.

I just uploaded a new Version (1.1.0.0), where the scrollbar-Bug and two others are fixed…
--The one with the black pixel i’ve also seen. I’ll work on it.
--The one with the tabs i didn’t see… But now, after you said that, it’s true, i just always read the title of the tabs, to know which one’s active…
--The buttons i’m working at… Maybe in the next Version, that will also be fixed.

With the tabs i can not assert “It’s a bug”. I will call it an usability issue. If you see Firefox or Opera browsers you will notice the active tab appearance on them seems to say “I am the active” tab more than in your skin.
Maybe if you give a more 3d appearance (Opera browser active tab is a good inspiration for “inflating” yours) to the active tab and keeping the other flat (they already are).
Removing the black line only below the active tab is also a good idea, but i don’t know if that is possible.
PS: BTW, there is something undesirable at the left side of the bottom scrollbar.
really appreciate this feather creation, one thing though…
previsited websites that appear in the browser url bar that are highlighted isn’t readable cuz it’s white on white if you get what im saying :P

Good work and i hope you have motivation for improving this skin
- I still see the black pixel
- The previous/play/next buttons have too much pixelized outlines (bad anti-aliasing?)
- The edit box on musics or in a new playlist is too small when edit a palylist name/music name
- The Open URL dialog box and the SkreemR search textbox denotes a rectangle over the round corners
- Is visible a horrible whiteline below the Browse button in the Import Library and New Subscription dialogs when the textbox at its left is focused (File Menu).
- There is something horrible at the left of the horizontal scrollbar (Main page and View source)
- View Source window as an horrible black square at its bottom right (same for Error Console window).
- Menu Tools > File Downloads : Text of the items become invisible when selecting one. Same for left column of Tools > XUL Periodic Table. The tabs in this window are horrible.
- Menu View > Character Encoding > Customize List: The buttons Move Up/Move Down/Remove seem like stamps and not like buttons (same for other dialogs with buttons. Example: in the Options and Software Update).
- The Javascript debugger has several “black text over dark gray” items
- The Javascript Environment window has buttons that seem like text boxes
- DOM Inspector: when inspecting a page the text and background color combination of the list items turns the text unreadable.
- The Clear Private Data window: When an item is selected, is difficult to see due to the low contrast of the selection box (same for other dialogs with checkboxes. Example: in the Options).

- When shrinking the top area the colour does not match the main background. and the playback buttons are very large.
- In View source > Print Preview the size of scrollbars is unbelievably large.
- In View source > Page Setup the tabs are horrible.
And this skin is not compatible with the 0.6 final version :(
Ok, thanks for your comments. In 1 week i’ll have enough time to fix that and i’ll try to make it 0.6-compatible now.

Even if i have any idea about the way a songbird skin is made, i believe your working hard on that.
The black pixel is still visible in the 0.5 version but not in 0.6
I noted more bugs:
- The address bar dropdown list is white over white on the selected element
- There is an horrible black square at bottom right of webpages (confluence of scrollbars)
- The radio buttons are weird (Example: Tools > Options | Main)
- The spin box buttons are falling outside (Example: Tools > Options | Main)
- The hyperlink “View terms of use” is almost unreadable ( Tools > Options | Shoutcast) due to its colors. (May be it is needed to have the Shoutcast extension installed to see)
- When focusing a toolbar button with the pointer, the square is too high to display its bottom line.
I think i am not the only one very grateful to your skin. May be with some corrections it will be the preferred skin of songbird users.

In the 3 latest Versions (1.5.0.0, 1.6.0.0, 1.7.0.0) i fixed some of the bugs listed above in the post of xpto (thanks). One bug i am sure i can’t fix, it’s the one with the buttons in the toolbar. This is in every feather equal and it dues to a bug in Songbird (see also: http://bugzilla.songbirdnest.com/show_bug.cgi?i… ). I’ll try to draw a bottom line on the image of the buttons (not very cool but it’s just for the style).
I also changed the style of the DOM-Inspector, it should now look more like iTunes.
Finally, i changed the style of Radiobuttons and Checkboxes for better seeing which are checked and which not and not repeating the image.
Also the big scrollbuttons are a Bug of Songbird and appear in every feather. there is no possibility to cheat…:-(
I commited that to the Bugzilla-Database (http://bugzilla.songbirdnest.com/show_bug.cgi?i…)
I’ll work on the other Bugs.

I'm using one of the nightly builds
Version: Songbird 0.8.0pre, Build 807 (20081029234214)
Didn't work at my computer, but works correctly with Nightly 1.0pre. Hopefully it will work with 1.0.0. Still doin some stuff, but i haven't got much time yet to change Gonzo, it's very similar to Gonzo yet. I will change this in the next week.

Works with Songbird_1.0.0rc1 Build 821 on Windows XP Pro, SP2. Sometimes it didn't work at my PC, don't know why. But with Version 0.8+ it worked. What OS have you got?

All the the disabled menus are fully white i.e First i thought that's a white space then i realized all the disabled menu items. Is this expected behavior?

Thank you for mentioning that. I changed it in the current version (3.1.0.0). It's my fault, i set the text color to white, which is not really readable on white background.

When i search for updates for addons it says this feather has an update 5.1.2 but when i hit update it deletes the feather and i have to use the default UI. anyone else having this problem?
Oh, Sorry, thats my fault. Yesterday i tried to upload a new Version with an icon. For this i uploaded Verison 5.1.2, but right after, i deleted it. Maybe when the new Version was online, you clicked on update, but as Songbird tried to update, the new Version was already deleted. Sorry for that. :-)
Just to let you know its still saying there is an update for 5.1.2 when i reinstalled the feather.
i just noticed this but i decided to hit update again just for the hell of it and found out that after agreeing to install the update it uninstalls iTunes feather and installs the addon .

The addon does not work properly on Songbird 1.0RC3 it seems check the link for image of what it looks like. (btw if there is any bug reporting options to addon can ya point me where to go :P new to most of this) in on Vista 64x if that means anything

oh and i forgot the update bug is fixed. it no longer uninstalls the feather...though now the feather just doesn't work at all :P
The skin still doesn't work in 1.0RC3 with the new version. When i switch to the feather it refreshes the UI but it keeps the default skin.
Yeah, i uploaded the default skin for checking whether it works. I will now remake the whole feather with the new structure from 1.0.0. This will take a week or 10 days, but then it should work and look finer.

OK, now i had the time for updating the feather completely. I also added a logo and the feather should now work on every OS.
I don't know why the previous versions didn't work, but maybe i included broken css or a wrong install.rdf

Hey, a couple things i noticed...
a few color changes...
1) Playlist images
2) Background library color from default grey to a more blueish
A Rounded scroll bar, and when in the browser part of Songbird there is no scroll bar.

You are right. I'll take the icons from iTunes (the ones used in my feather are the default ones from songbird).
The scrollbar will also be changed, though i don't know how to change the background color of the library yet.
Scrollbar and Icons should be fixed by tomorrow, background could need some time.

Ya no problem! I just knew you could do a lot a tweaking (looking at the YABS and Amana feathers) One other thing I noticed was when you move the play toolbar to the top (as in iTunes), it doesn't flow well color-wise...

Ya, i will release the new version today. I don't know whether i should put the play toolbar on zhe top by default. I'll make a poll about that. Thanks for the information.

I won't be able to upload a new version soon, because the orioginal iTunes-icons are copyright-protected, so i cant the them. I'll try to make icons myself, but this will take some time.
I set up a poll for the play-bar, please vote here: http://dieners.di.funpic.de/joomla/ at the right side of the page. In a week or so i will then put the play-bar where most users want it.
I think it would look better to put it at the top, because if the color fits at the top, it will also at the bottom.
Since there copyrighted, how about you just change the color of Songbirds to the colors of iTunes, (and keep Songbird's music notes) instead of trying to design your own... You know what I mean?

I noticed that when in mini mode, the display has dark text on a dark background making it difficult to see the track information. Is it possible to fix this?
