It doesn't work. Grr. I tried several times ><

Snarl is a Growl-like application for Windows. It displays nice alpha blended notifications for different alerts coming from different programs.
SongSnarl enables a notification for the current track in the moment when you change your track in Songbird. It also reacts on clicking on a popup with next track/pause/resume depending on which mouse key has been pressed and which alert type is displayed.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Install Snarl (http://www.fullphat.net/) first - otherwise SongSnarl won't / can't display anything. Second note: in some cases (don't know why until now) it will start working after a first reboto only.
Searching for other extensions for Snarl? Firefox, Thunderbird (incl. Lightning), Sunbird and Pidgin are available at http://tlhan-ghun.de/
Added compatibility to Songbird 1.8
Cover art not working in the moment
It doesn't work. Grr. I tried several times ><
Doesn't work for me :(
Could you make this add-on work with Linux by allowing it to function with the Mumbles branch that works just like Snarl for Windows and the alternative for OSX?
There is one thing that bothers me with an otherwise terrific add-on. Every time a song changes, the program opens and focuses on the Songbird window (I have isolated this problem to SongSnarl). It's pretty annoying when you e.g. are writing an article in Word and the usually minimized Songbird window pops up every three minutes or so. Please tend to this bug, because I love everything else about this add-on :)
@MozillaSnarls: Just updated and did a recheck through the add-ons (disabling them and let them run alone). It seems as I wrongly accused you for this, it's LyricMaster that creates this very annoying effect. I'm sorry for this unintentional trick-or-treat, rating reset to 5 stars! *blushes* :)
Great add-on.
The translations are missing some strings.
great one ...
It's working fine ....
It don't work dude.
Installed Snarl, Melon, and nothing worked...
I think it would be a great feature if a sound/beep could notify when the currently playing song has not yet been rated. I love your program and think this would be a great addition. Thanks!
I must say that it is quite an install to get this thing working.. installing melon and snarl, plus this addon... only to find it not working. :(
@MozillaSnarls
Sorry, I have uninstalled and done a clean install, having removed all of the extra stuff. When i put it back on, I will certainly give you some feedback. Thanks for responding.
Thanks! This is the same than the Song Noticier Add-On?
Only for Windows? Pffffffffff!
Glad to see it working with the 1.1 version! I missed it!
Song Snarl don't work with my computer event if I installed Snarl before (v. R2.06) :(
Someone have the same problem?
Hi there
This is a great add-on - the whole snarl stuff is very nice. Just a couple of issues I seem to be having.... there are options to notify when a song has no rating and when it has no album art - I've changed the display type, but it never comes up - it does tell me that a new song is playing... is it that you can only have one of the notifications at one time? I.e. if you have new song, then you can't be notified of no album art?
Keep up the good work!
I know it's bad form to reply to oneself, but just in case anyone else has the same issue - you need to make your choices in two places - once in Snarl and the second time in the options of SongSnarl itself - should have looked there in the first place!
Hi MozillaSnarls..! I'm wondering if you can adapt this extension to work with the new Ubuntu 9.10 Notification System... The only which the extension have to do is read artist info and album picture. The other is just send bash code. There is some help lines...
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/NotificationDevelopmentGuidelines
by the way, the extension is so great, but we like more integration with gnome desktop...
Thanks!!
installed snarl, melon and songsnarl...but nothing happens
Rebooted and works. Great!!
Two questions:
1- is possible to locate the notification in the middle of the screen, not only corners?
2- how to make it show artwork?
Installed the addon and Snarl, rebooted. Doesn't work on Win7 RC. No error message. I don't think there are any messages in the error console concerning SongSnarl... I am unable to copy from it anyway...
Funktioniert wunderbar mit Snarl R2.2. Vielen Dank.
Hi. I noticed songsnarl has registered itself with my snarl about 8 times. I'm not sure how that happened. Perhaps over songbird crashes, or restarts due to addon (un)installations. Either way, it's sort of annoying. Only one of the choices in my snarl "Apps" tab Application dropdown has all the songsnarl options, but there are about 8 more in there even so.
How do I rid myself of them, and can you make it so that doesn't happen?
Win7 home premium
Songbird Version: Songbird 1.2.0, Build 1146
Songsnarl 1.0
Snarl R2.21 (V40.15)
This is EXACTLY what I was looking for! Awesome!!! Will comment if i have any issues, so far so good...
You should replace the rating system with something like this:
★★★★
You don't actually need the -, but you could replace it ☆
This working depends on Snarl supporting Unicode. And, after a quick Wikipedia search, I found out that it in fact does, so I think this would definitely be an addition to the add-on!
I had exactly the same problem as Lakrits 2 years ago:
"Every time a song changes, the program opens and focuses on the Songbird window..."
Later it was identified as LyricsMaster problem. I use MLyrics and happens to me too. More interesting is, that is happens only when BOTH MLyrics and SongSnarl are enabled.
I took a look at SongSnarl version history and found
"1.0b2
Added more languages
Clicking on an unrated / no cover notifcations focuses player window"
which look little bit related to our issue :) so I disabled unrated / no cover notifications (hopefully I don't want them anyway) and now it seems ok!
ok it seems it is still happening :-/
Will the cover art support be added back sometime ? Everything else works fine and I remember cover art used to work too.
Thanks
