Very well. We can begin to handle our songs. Bye bye clones.
One remark: if you attack the clones, please check if they are in any playlist and add the new ones to that playlist.

What criteria does it use to determine duplicates?
I just downloaded it to test it out on SB .5 and I have a duplicate song that it doesn’t see.

It builds a hash of some of the metadata (artist, album, track name, genre) and the length (both time and filesize).

just installed this, and it isnt working for me. I can see the
duplicates in my library, and it just says that there are no dupes
and goes back to the library. any ideas??

@christophersquid: Can you try again with 0.0.5? Do your dupes
have the same metadata?

Nice add on! Is it possible to get a combined
“Ghostbusters” and “Attack of the Clones”
addon so it is easier to switch between these two useful views?
Thanks, I like your work.

Hm, it doesn’t work correctly for me. It doesn’t
find all clones.
I’ve imported a few M3U-playlists
in my library.
Well, Songbird doesn’t just import the playlist, it also
imports the songs, altgough I have them already in the library.
Now the strange thing is: now some of this clones of the very same
song has small differences from the original, f. e. while the
original has a length of 4.13 min. the clone has 4.12 min.
Maybe that’s the reason why it doesn’t find all
clones.

I think, the clones, who are a little different from the
“original”, so that “Attack of the Clones”
doesn’t identify them, happens with clones, which are
produced by the “Now Playing List”-Addon.

I ran this add on and it showed me around 10 or 12 duplicates. I imported about 5000 songs into songbird and now when i look at my library i have almost 10,000 songs. obviously i have duplicates of probably every song but this add on isnt recognizing them. I have the songs on a external HD, and i also have them on my ipod. My ipod is currently plugged into my computer.Does my library pick up the songs from ipod which would account for the duplicates but otherwise how can i fix this?

Please adapt this for 0.7 once it comes out! i haven't had any problems with duplicates yet in the 0.7 release candidate because all my music is in one location but this add on would be mighty handy for 0.7!!

@Brendy: Why do you need it for 0.7 when it is obsolete since 0.6 ? The feature is already integrated in Songbird itself.

Does songbird delete the duplicates or just not show them?
I want something that will actually find duplicates and delete them for me.
Any ideas? ankhwatcher@yahoo.com

It won't import them in the first place.

this addon was great for removing songs (well the same song) that was in different locations. technically it wasn't the same song since it was in 2 different locations and therefore songbird would add both into the library. attack of the clones found duplicates of songs even if they were in different locations and that was really handy
Hi, I just got Songbird today and have some dupes, and I look this addon up and it says that "Attack of the clone" isn't compatible with my song bird. Please help. Thanks in advance!

According to http://blog.songbirdnest.com/2008/09/15/more-faster/ Songbird once again allows you to import duplicates, once more creating the need for this plugin. Please update it :)
