@shortarm download the new release from the dta site or firefox addons site. the .xpi file is actually a zip archive. extract the file and open install.rdf in any text editor, scroll down to the end and under Songbird change the maxVersion to 1.2.* or something like that so as to allow for installation in 1.2.* versions of songbird. so to allow installation in 1.3 you'd change it to 1.3.* and so on. save and zip it ensuring that the directory structure is unchanged and change the extension to .xpi and you can open the file in songbird (tools>addons and install)
