I think it’s beer…
Hey this is awesome!!
Soooo happy to see this. =)
Woo hoo! (Now I guess I have to get down to rating and fixing genres... If only someone were working on a track editor.)
I love this feature! Thanks…however, how does it work? I used the menu item to create a PartyShuffle playlist with 10 items; once those items play, there’s no autofill; I selected the menu item again and got a second playlist with a new set of 10 songs. I’m on OSX Intel, with Songbird 0.5.
Great!! :)
I see you add the partyshuffle by going to file party shuffle. You can also add playlists by right clicking in the left hand pane. Could you add party shuffle to that drop down list?
For those of us that are slow like me, go to File -> Party
Shuffle to access the party shuffle menu.
It would be really nice if it either a) auto-generated a default
playlist or b) created a party shuffle button in the left pane.
This would prevent the user from wandering around trying to find
how to play/generate the party shuffle :). I would be more for b)
because then you could right click it and gain access to
(re)generate, clear, show controls, etc.
Anyway, thanks for creating this great add-on!
I really liked this feature for Songbird 0.6.0. Any plans of developing this for Songbird 0.7.0?
yeah come on man i love this addon when do we get the pleasure of using it in 0.7.?
PLS PLS PLS update this addon for newest songbird PLS PLS PLS!
Any news on this add-on? I'd really like to use it...
I can create playlists by genre & rating with intelligent playlists, too.Could you tell something about the differences between intelligent playlists and your add-on?
I'm afraid this doesn't add-on doesn't seem to work with Songbird version 1. The playlist can be created fine but the list doesn't auto-refill, nor can you regenerate the list. You always have to create a new playlist.
I'd really love this feature to work properly as I still feel this one thing that iTunes still has over Songbird.
Is this still being updated? Potentially I'd like to reference it, and add songs to it from Songbird Remote
Thanks, I'm really excited about finally using this add-on. A few thoughts:
• Is there a way to give it a range of ratings instead of one number? For example, I like to play things that are rated 3 stars or higher.
• I like the pane for controls, but why do I have to keep returning to the menu to Generate, or apply my settings? Why not have a button to do this right in the pane?
• What I would *really* like is to be able to have party shuffle pull from a specific PLAYLIST (not just genre), since I have smart playlists set-up to match my listening needs.
• I don't understand what "fill with less rated songs" does, and does "randomize rating" actually change my track ratings, or does it pull tracks with random ratings? Is there any documentation I could look at?
PS: Thanks to stove_pipe or I never would have figured out how to access this at all! I agree with his/her suggestions as well.
@inf3rn0,
this is much more useful than Smart Playlists! Please keep updating it :-)
What I like about Party Shuffle in iTunes (the only iTunes feature I like at all!) is the ability to listen on shuffle but also to have some control over what's coming up next, to add or remove songs, etc. With your extension, the fact that it only refills at the end makes this harder. You'll notice that iTunes keeps track of how many songs are in the queue and tops it up if necessary. If you could implement that I'd be very happy indeed.

Uselessness and Auto Refill:
I Use the add on "create similar Playlist" quite often, and like it much (uses data from last.fm)
But that's not what I understand under a party shuffle.
So here some thoughts about party shuffle:
Autorefill: Can this be done in a way, that everytime a song is deleted from the list a new one is picked up?
so that the list alway contains the wanted number of songs.
that way people can just remove songs they dont like and together with:
Autodelete the Party can go on forever. Autodelete should delete a song once it was played.
And like others before: differnet sources. like only songs from a playlist.
and more options: songs may be repeated, the time when they can be repeated.
likelyhood of how close songs from same interpret appear in the list together (close/likely: only a few songs are played from other artist, until the same artist is played again - far/unlikely: a lot of songs have to be played until a song from the same artist apears again in the list)
the same for Genre and Album
oh, and when you click generate it would be cool when the currently playing song was not interrupted/deleted, only all the others should be re-generated. It really can mess up the mood killing a song in the middle!!!
Or make this a separate option or a sub-option of the autodelete?
Probably a bit of work, But with this it would be THE ULTIMATE Partyshuffle!!!
