++++++ excellent, thanks

There is no possibility to rate directly the currently playing track, you can rate in the playlist/library only.

Additional thought:
how about hiding the "tab bar" when there is no 2nd tab besides the media library oder playlists? of course moving buttons for "view selection", search bar and "leftside bar switching button" into the playcontrol bar.
OR removing the official windows frame (upper stuff with Data, ..., Closing) and doing your own (there is a addon for this *thinking*) bar with all that stuff and moving those buttons into this custom bar.

@Marko:
The missing mini player is because I had not enough time to create a new mini player, and the Purple Rain / simplyBlack mini-player cannot be used (looks terrible and some buttons stop working).
The Rating thing: If there is a rating field in the media control pane, this needs much space which cannot be used as seek bar and to display track information.
On a "normal" display this might be less important, but on a netbook with 800px in width, you feel the space missing.

how about hiding the "tab bar" when there is no 2nd tab besides the media library oder playlists?

This is a feature of almost every feather, you can change it in Songbird's preferences: Go to Tabs and disable the option "Always show the tab bar".

of course moving buttons for "view selection", search bar and "leftside bar switching button" into the playcontrol bar

Again, the problem is that these controls (search bar) need space in width, and placing them in the media control pane would make the feather useless on small displays.

OR removing the official windows frame (upper stuff with Data, ..., Closing) and doing your own (there is a addon for this *thinking*) bar with all that stuff and moving those buttons into this custom bar.

This is a bit tricky, because the menu bar (File, Edit, ...) needs much space. A thing I thought about already is a popup-menu instead of the menu bar (so there would be a Toolbar button opening a menu with File, Edit, ...) and merging the window buttons (minimize, maximize/restore, close) into the toolbar, and removing the title bar. With this step the window buttons would have to get smaller in width, so they must get re-designed.
All in all, a lot of work needing a lot of time, but a possible future for this feather; maybe the user should be able to toggle this change via preferences, because not having a title bar is not suitable for all users (but I don't know how much work that would be).

Thanks for commenting! :)

thx for answering that fast :)
well I use a monitor with 1400px or 1280px in width, that's why ^^
but you're right: it's the best setting for netbooks

the rest that i mentioned were just some things that could be changed, but as you said: the effort would be very high, if not to high!

Hi it's me again ;)
Still Songbird 1.4.3
Have both addons ínstalled: SimplyBlack 2.1.2.0 + SimplyNetbook 1.1.0.0 (each the latest version for 1.4.3)

After Restart only the lower scrollbar is visible and Songbird is not willing to become visible/usable except this:
http://img130.imageshack.us/img130/1061/screenshot13b.png

I had to delete the SimplyNetbook extensionFolder in order to use Songbird again. I am not sure if this is the kind of notification that you wanted to show that simplynetbook shouldn't be used any longer ;)

And btw. in SimplyBlack 2.1.2.0 there is no view "SimplyNetbook", so at the moment SimplyNetbook is not usable within Songbird 1.4.3.

But as said: I don't "need" SimplyNetbook for my big displays. So I could with without them until I upgrade to Songbird 1.7

@Marko:
....uh.
The new version is only for 1.7... forgot that in the rdf...

simplyBlack includes simplyNetbook since 2.3, which is released for 1.7 only...

So, after updating to 1.7, you should use simplyBlack's simplyNetbook.
