DirectTune rsjtdrjgfuzkfg

Interface for adding individual (Live-)Streams to Songbird

DirectTune

Description

DirectTune is an streaming extension for Songbird, it provides an interface for adding (Live-)Streams to Songbird. You can add streams as URL, or download a List-AddOn to get pre-defined Streams such as online radio streams.

Feel free to visit the DirectTune Wiki!
There is a short manual, too.

Everybody can get involved by creating an individual List-AddOn, take a look into this Wiki page.

Features:
 Version 1.0
  Add individual Streams
  Add pre-defined Streams out of List-AddOns
  Use direct URL and playlist URLs (M3U and simple PLS) to get the Streams
 Version 1.1
  Give streams descriptions
 Version 1.2
  Create List-AddOns directly from Songbird
Will come in future releases:
 Adding a Homepage-field
 Adding a Genre-field
 Improvements in the "Add..."-Dialog (add more than one Stream in one dialog session)
Known Bugs:
If there is a stream currently being played, DirectTune isn't able to play another stream. This is due to a Songbird bug, which is fixed in 1.9.0a (nightly).

If you like the Add-On you might translate it into your language:

Please post a comment and/or rate, don't be afraid posting bugs and ideas!

Release Notes

Added Nightingale support to generated AddOns.

Really nice. Two suggestions:

Would be cool if one could select and add multiple streams at once from a list using the add button.

Also, once there will be more than one list provider, it might be beneficial if those were expandable / collapsible categories in both the DirectTune playlist and the list within the "add" dialog.

@tbr:
Making packs expandable/collapsible in the "Add..."-Dialog is a nice idea.
Selecting more than one stream in the "Add..."-Dialog is also a feature I added to the will-come.

Categories in the DirectTune-List itself...
Do you think it is good to have a category for each pack?
I think it would be better to use a genre tag (see will-come) and make the genres expandable/collapsible.
Thanks for your feedback!

I would like to see the ability of not only editing the URL, but the name of the station as well.

It would be really cool to be able to select several streams, and be able to save them as a DirectTune List Add-on directly from the GUI.

@honkerdown:
When Tags are done, the change URL will be replaced by change entry, where the name will be changeable as well.

A direct saving from gui is kind of tricky, because of the compressing. Creating a folder with all needed files should be possible. I noted it at the will-come.
Thanks!

I've got a problem
I addes the BBC1 URL to listen to it but I got a codec error.
It's strange considering that I can listen to BBC1 in SongBird by opening the web site.
thanks for help

@marcoe:
What URL did you try?
I coudn't find a URL in the short search I did.
Listening to streams through web-sites (flash) don't show that it could work. The problem is that some broadcasters want to prevent using other ways than their sites to access their live-streams, and after a short look through the BBC is one of those broadcasters.

I noticed, that songbird hangs with m3u files if I add them via AddOn. When I manually add them and say, the're a playlist, it works

@freaktechnik:
First: Thanks for contributing!
You might have a look at the Wiki-Page about creating List-AddOns, to see how playlist-streams are included into an List-AddOn:

A thing not mentioned in the example is defining streams where the url points to a playlist containing the url of the stream itself. If you have such streams, replace url with purl.

So, for the first entry in your List-AddOn, you could write:

directtune.addList.push({pack:"Swiss Webradios [Deutsch]",
name:"DRS 3",purl:"http://glb-stream11.streamserver.ch/1/drs3/mp3_128.m3u",
image:"chrome://directtune-swissradios/skin/icons/drs.png"});

Be sure to use purl when the url is pointing to an playlist!

[repeating the question in english]
I can't see the names of the streams, there are only the icons and a play button.
[english answer]
Oh. I've overseen that it looks other in Purple Rain, in simplyBlack it works without problems. A fix will be avaiable in some minutes.
[deutsche Antwort]
Da ich es nur in simplyBlack getestet habe, habe ich übersehen, dass die Schriftfarbe in Purple Rain anders ist.
In ein paar Minuten gibt es einen Bugfix...

Isn't there a Radio node in the service pane?
You could try uninstalling DirectTune, and re-install it.

My DirectTune-entry in the service pane disappeared...i already un- and reinstalled it, but it's still not there.
I don't exactly know WHEN it disappeared, i think with the update to SB 1.7.2 (from 1.7.1b, Win7). On my other computer (WinXP, update from SB 1.4.?) DirectTune is still there...

Any ideas?

Found Solution: I had to uninstall "BirdTune", then re-install DirectTune and BirdTune (in that order), and now both of them are peacefully coexisting :-)

I found the error: the second level domains don't work with Directtune.

about 1 year ago
rsjtdrjgfuzkfg
rsjtdrjgfuzkfg

@freaktechnik:
The Playlist at the url you posted is no simple pls, and DirectTune supports only m3u, extended m3u and simple pls.
But the stream behind it will work in Directtune, so you could use the stream-url directly; the playlist in the link you posted is generated, the link is in the generation command, so this should work without problems.

freaktechnik
freaktechnik

The handling of PLS I don't understand, so, how do I find the link to the Stream? And this with 2nd level domains don't only happened with this one URL, it's not working with another stream too. I'll search the URL.

about 1 year ago
rsjtdrjgfuzkfg
rsjtdrjgfuzkfg

@freaktechnik:

There are many possibilities how to save a playlist. The most common format is m3u. There is a "simple" m3u, which is just a list of files, seperated by new-line and there is "advanced" m3u with additional information stored in.
Another format is pls. Pls has also a "simple"-type which is exactly the same as simple m3u.
The url you posted points to a playlist encoded it an advanced version of pls, and DirectTune can't interpret it.
So what to do is downloading the playlist and looking inside.
There is a URL to the stream itself inside. For your example this is "http://beemy.catatec.ch:8000/radio_rabe_95.6_fm".
Enter the direct URL and it should work (be sure not to set the playlist option!). If there is another issue with the other url, please post it so I can have a look.
Thanks!

I am still experiencing conflicts with Birdtune. The DirectTune entry just disappears from the service pane when BirdTune is installed (can't even fix it as before anymore, see above).
I uninstalled BirdTune now, because I use DirectTune more, but it would be great if there would be a solution in further releases.

Starting from version 1.9 of Songbird you can use the string "servicesource.radio" for the string "Radio". More info in Bug 22146

@locust:
they use a format I can't get to work... the "direct" urls they have point to other playlists, which point to themselves... so each link results in a link to itself; and y the way the playlists are not compartible with DirectTune...
But they provide a SHOUTcast radio, so you might want to use SHOUTcast to listen to it.

doesnt (anymore) work :P :( (actually MOST of extensions dont work for me :( i discovered this player just some weeks ago, found pretty many extensions but, again, most of them no (longer) work; damn! :P im cursed :(( ) (otherwise id liked it ...)

@DOOM:
It would be great if you can provide some additional information to help me to spot the issue:
What Songbird / DirectTune version did you use? On what OS? Are there any messages in the error console (tools menu)?
What means "don't work"? Is DirectTune's node missing in service pane? Can't you open it? Can't you play a strem? Can't you edit or add streams?
You said "anymore" - what did you change since then?

Thanks for your help!
