New Features:
Added Metadata SBProperties:
• Date (for complete release dates)
• Musicians
• Engineering
• Release Production
• Release Engineering
• Release Rating (currently unused)

Now Playing Tab
If the currently playing file has been sync'd with a track MBID this tab has the following features:
• Displays the locally stored metadata
• Pulls related web links from MusicBrainz
• Pulls related track, artist and release information from MusicBrainz.
• User ratings (only for sync'd files) rate both locally and on MusicBrainz.
Queue Tab
Load tracks from your library (via a context menu option) or the Now Playing tab into the MusicBrainz Queue. From here you can:
• Search for tracks on MusicBrainz
• Sync tracks with MusicBrainz data
• Add release to your MusicBrainz collection
Browser Tab
This is a MusicBrainz web browser. Links from the other two tabs to MusicBrainz open up in this tab for viewing and editing metadata.
Future Features
This is release 0.9.0. Before 1.0 we would like to add the following features:
• Sync Release (currently you have to sync each track individually)
• Sync Ratings (currently only ratings made through the Now Playing tab sync with MusicBrainz)
• Genre & Tag functionality
• Notification of new metadata for sync'd files.

I like the idea. Maybe you could add some more integration than just opening a simple webpage? Perhaps it could behave more similarly to the picard tagger where tags show up in the webpage you can click and, when clicked, let you tag the currently selected track.

Jus amazing. I saw scrubz few months back and it was only win/mac. I am really disappointed (m on linux). pull meta data to tag audio will be really great.
I've been tagging all my collection using picard for a while now. I was looking for an app to tag&synchronize my collection against MBZ tags and ratings for about a year now ... today I have spent about an hour searching for this ...
I never used Songbird before, but I am from now on.
I have just put this page in the Bookmarks Toolbar. Can't wait for the rest of the features.

Great that I found this add-on. I was really looking exactly for the feature, which will hopefully be in the next releases: to submit ratings to musicbrainz.
It would be great if everything would be configurable, means:
- optional synchronization of ratings/tags/collection
- optional tagging of the other metadata
For example, I always tag my music using picard and there I added a few plugins and scripts, which won't be possible or not needed within songbird, so I don't want to update all metadata of an audio file.
Same for synching the collection.
But for me personally, ratings and tags (genre) support would be great and musicbrainz will definitely profit from this, too.

Very interesting addon, thanks a lot :)
Here are some important issues I've met so far, that prevent me to go further:
- "Album title" is not synchronized when sync tags from MB
- MB panel miss vertical scroll bar (the panel is truncated on the bottom on my small screen)
- No right click option to add selection to queue. Maybe a problem with other addons, but I have tons of them, so...
- and a status indication would be good... often, I don't know whether the search ended unsuccessfully or is still running ;)

Some Metadata doesnt show up even if its listed and fully available through MusicBrainz... I tried it with Beastie Boys - Ill Communication. The Song "The Update" was in the list of your panel but after selecting it in your pane the metadata didnt show up like with the other songs...
I like the recommendation feature but i really think this add-on should focus on tagging. Recommendations should be done via another add-on... I would open up this huge window for tagging... not for recommendations. Thats at least what i think...

I have an entire collection of FLAC's tagged with Picard, but it seems that your plug-in doesn't recognize them as already tagged. Don't you use the same tagging schema as Picard does?
@totoro - The most recent updates should fix your first two concerns. Not sure why you're not seeing the right click add to queue. Will work to get a status indication in the next update.
@angryman - Sometimes it won't find the songs on the first try. What you can do using the Ill Communication as an example
1) In the search boxes remove the track name and push the search button, this will pull up all of the tracks from the release.
2) If you've sync'd a track from the same release previously the details should still be showing for the release including the tracklist at the bottom. Selecting the track from the release tracklist will change the track details. Make sure the song you're looking for is the one selected and you can sync.
@tanchistu - This isn't a replication of what Picard does. Songbird doesn't support the reading of all of Picard's tags. Songbird metadata is stored differently. This add-on syncs the songbird metadata with MusicBrainz (not necessarily Picard) storing the metadata in a means readable by Songbird. Unfortunately this does mean you have to resync files already tagged in Picard. Hopefully though by the 1.0 release though you'll be able to batch process.
A really impressive extension, I've been keeping an eye out for a MusicBrainz extension for Songbird for a while.
I also would love to see the ratings synchronised to MusicBrainz.
This add-on has a great potential. I love to see Songbird and MusicBrainz connected. Please keep on working on that! Great.
hi, sorry for asking this stupid question, but: where do I "open" music brainz? I only see the "add to musicbrainz" option, when I rightklick on a track.
Doesn't appear to work properly on Windows. Yes, you can search for an artist and trackname and it will give results. However, the addon always requests you to enter username and password for musicbrainz, which should not be necessary.
Also the search result table for some strange reason does not even allow you to see the artist's name.
Also, the addon only searches for things YOU enter, like the artist's name and track title, but what's the use??
When I already KNOW the metadata, there is little reason for musicbrainz in my opinion. Musicbrainz's strength was to FIND the metadata for a track by generating some specalized hashes and then offer possible songs with a high accuracy, so you can tag your library properly.
That's why I liked Amarok. When you clicked on Edit Metadata, it has a button for musicbrainz lookup. You just click that button and it will present you a few songs that matches the generated hashes. You simply click on one of them and your song is tagged properly.
Hello all. I see the sidepanel, but there is nothing mentioning musicbrainz addon on the context menu. This i way i'm not able to add mor e than one track to the queue, as the addon only gets the track being played
Should this work on win7 (64bit-ultimate) too?
The only thing I can see is
"Add to MusicBrainz Queue" on my german SongBird.
But even this will do nothing.
What should I do/check/change/configure to get this work?
Any chance of this getting an update to work with more recent versions of Songbird? I'd love to use this.
Agreed with Oddspongy. I'd love to use this with 1.7.3.
Please add option to change sync mapping of artist/albumartist/performed by. Cos In Asian music Artis->Album Artist and Performed by > Artist Or may be i prefer that way. Issues is Album Artist is not very valid for anything else.
