Upcoming releases by artists in your library.
We hate missing new releases by our favorite artists so we built the New Releases Add-On.
New Releases looks at all the artists in your library and notifies you when they are about to release a new album. If no one in your library is about to issue a new release, see all new music being released in the next four months.
A New Releases view in Songbird displays upcoming albums, singles and compilation sortable by date or in alphabetical order.

@Caelte - the list of countries are directly taken from the MusicBrainz service and it has a "Worldwide" category that's treated just like any other country. When viewing worldwide releases, only ones tagged as "Worldwide" are shown as opposed to the "All results" option which actually shows everything. You're not the first person to comment on this so we might need to update this behavior. Thanks!
I like the idea of this add-on!
However, I am not able to start Songbird any more with this add-on installed. I use Songbird 1.42 in German and Win Vista.
@martin_bighomer - Oh no! Unfortunately there's a bug (19337) that's causing the behavior you're seeing. This should be fixed very soon and if you want to keep up to date with the progress, add yourself to the bug report. Thanks!
I found an error that Songbird displays when I ran it from the console:

I think is related to your add-on since it shows the newReleases.js in the error. But this error is not affecting the behaivor of the add-on, apparently is working fine for me.

And I would suggest that it also should show releases from the last month, but january now is not available any more... ?

May I suggest one more feature?
It would be the coolest thing, if it would be possible not only to view upcoming releases but as well the already released releases. (choosable with a mask where to put a time span. e.g.: show releases of the last two years)
so one could check easily if one missed out on a album of one of the favourite bands.

Also, I tried to manually "fix" that myself by editting pastMonthsToGet, that did not seem to work...
It might be an idea to look at artist name and not albumartist name.
Compilation albums have the albumartist tagged as 'various artists', and now the extension is showing new releases for 'various artists'. Which are a lot and none of them interesting. And it's missing out on release of the individual artists, which on the other hand might be interesting.
I would also like the ability to view releases within a set time-span (previous months).
I tried to edit the newReleases.js but did not have much luck, if there was some documentation I would probably have a better chance.
Awesome addon, just also wish (like others) that I can see not just upcoming but also latest releases in the past 2-3 or X months.
