Wow have to love the web, works on my android my touch phone two thumbs up man

Telescope allows you to control songbird from your mobile phone (or any web browser!) Includes seach functionality to quickly search your entire library.
Once installed, use the link given on the welcome page (and also available in the Options/Preferences Box) to access songbird from any computer on your network.
Telescope also works with iTunes Remote and TunesRemote+ for Android. This allows smoother control of Songbird from these phones. For information on how to pair your phone with Songbird, see my pairing documentation
Remotes will appear under 'Remotes' in the services pane. Clicking on a remote will prompt you for the pin code, entering the pin code will pair the phone. From then on the phone should connect automatically.
The interface is inspired by other popular mobile music players, and should be intuitive to most users.
This addon is still in beta, so if you have any questions, or find a bug, please go to: http://code.google.com/p/songbird-telescope/issues/list and create a new issue. Thanks!
The source code for this addon is available (in the xpi file and) at the google code page:
Updated to work with Songbird 1.10.1
Wow have to love the web, works on my android my touch phone two thumbs up man
Hello Wilco
I've tested yout plugin on Firefox and there are some bugs:
1st: If Songbird already plays a song is there nothing on the web visible
2nd: the album art is verry Large and appers only if you klick on next
I have it tested too on my WM 6.5 Phone (Xperia X1)... and well... i don't get it working
on IE it shows "Loading Songbird" and on Opera nothing Happens ^^
I hope you can get it work for WinMo =)
Keep it up so that i can (in the near future) lay lazy in my bed and control my Songbird ;)
PS: Sorry for my bad English
@Wilco: Unfortunately it doesn't work to me! I tested with Firefox 3.5.5 (on WinXP ME) and it can't establish a connection to http://my_ip:3689/ I don't know why. There are no errors on Error Console on Firefox and on Songbird too.
Hoi Wilco
now the current song appear ;)
but on my mobile is no change =/ i hope you'll find a solution for WinMo
please keep your work up greetz ALU
like the idea, can there be a only sight only version, one without any changes to the playing song/playlist be made?
@Wilco: Sorry my late response but I'm bloody busy to make my feathers compatible with Purple Rain.
The problem was my IP address. IP checker websites shows different IP than ipconfig command in cmd ('cause wi-fi router I guess). So everything fine now! :)
Easily my favorite add on right now, works perfectly with the HTC Hero :)
I'm having a lot of issues using this add-on with my phone. I have a nokia E71 and the add-on doesn't work on the default browser. I imagine that my browser might be lacking something, but I can't think of what since it support javascript and flash. Anyway. I decided to give it a try using Opera Mobile 10 beta, and I can access Songbird interface, start playing something and then when I refresh the page, I get an error. Aparently the port stays open and I can't access Songbird after that from anywhere :(
If you need anything to help resolve this issue let me know please.
PS: the only way to make the page work again is re-starting songbird :(
Thanks for the add-on Wilco, after a year I finally have a good way to control songbird from my G1! I've run into a few quirks though.
1. The "previous track" button on the Now Playing page doesn't seem to work. Everything else works though.
2. The volume slider button could stand to be a bit bigger, it can be a little hard to adjust sometimes.
3. (This is an android specific issue ) If you're trying to use the buttons at the bottom of the page when the phone is being held vertically the zoom in/out controls will cover up the Play/Pause and Next Track buttons.
So far those are the only things I've come across that are worth bringing up, everything else is great.
Ok, I figured out why the "previous track" button wasn't working. You've got a typo in \ui\nowplaying.js I'm assuming "yrl: url," should actually read "url; url,"
function Previous()
{
var url = ServiceDir + 'player';
$.ajax({
yrl: url,
type: 'POST',
data: { 'action': 'previous'},
error: function(t)
{ showError('Error playing media: ' + t.responseText); },
success: function(t)
{ gCurrentPage.updateData(); }
});
}
Hello Wilco
I've tested the your new version (Version: 0.6.1)
on my System (Win 7 Ulti) the plugin dont work.
I've tested different Ports but no sucess =/ hope of a soon fix
Keep it up ;)
I can confirm that the new update is broken. I reported a bug at google code. I hope it wasn't anything serious...
Thanks for the good work!!!

(a en opensuse tiene que abrir los puertos, in open suse you must have to open ports)
This mint, thank you! Really like it, simple and effective. One thing that would be useful on my android is a way of avoiding lengthy scrolling my somewhat epic library - skip to letter option or something maybe?
Still, love it!
I cannot do without this now. The family can control what the Media Center (with Songbird installed) is playing from any computer (or cell phone) in the house.
Is there any plan to update it? I foolishly allowed Songbird to update from version 1.4.3 to 1.7.3 and it wouldn't let Telescope work it's magic anymore.
Needless to say I have had to uninstall and reinstall 1.4.3
Perhaps I could donate a little something towards the development? I went to the project's homepage but there is no option for that or to contact the developer. :(
Came here after finding out Telescope doesn't work with the latest Songbird version :(
Is there a plan to continue to development on this?
Nice addon
hi,
it is not working for me. somehow i can search for something, get results and tracks are played well.- but i on't see my devide under "remotes"... and it is not possible to jump to any position within a track. the cursor is going back to its old position immediately. and i am not able to select playlists... any help?
i posted both issues separated as new issues. thanks for support. btw i use tunesremote (former tunescontrol?).
another question: is it necessary to have apples bonjour installed? is it on the other hand a problem IF apples bonjour is installed in parallel?
regards,
astrakid
the link for pairing with iTunes remote is down :(
Also I can't view the webpage from any computer but the one songbird is running on! Help please?
Ok for some reason i can see it now on my ipod touch, but i have no idea how to pair.
For some reason I cannot pair my HTC Desire with Songbird, not even manually. I can control Songbird via http://*MyPC*:3689 though. What could fix this? Does my pc need to have WiFi enabled? (It doesn't have WiFi itself, but it is linked to a router that does have a WiFi-AP, and Songbird Remote for Android does work.)
The pairing instructions are back up :) Except that for some reason I can see the remotes heading in Songbird, but my iPod never shows up in it.
Really excited for a songbird 1.9 release. Songbird Remote Pro not only costs $4 but requires iOS 4.1 which I can't get.
Hoping Telescope will do the trick.
Nice Add-on! Perfect to control Songbird with my Android phone.
The only drawback is that the titles get sorted only alphabetically disregarding the track number. So it is not possible to listen to a whole album in the right order of the songs. That's a great pity because I often listen for example to classical symphonies where the track order of the parts matters pretty much.
I would love to see the option to get a sorting by track number in future version.
Fantastic add-on, but I can only make it work via other PCs on my network. I can't make it work from my android phone even though I'm using the same IP address. Any thoughts about why this is occurring?
I am able to pair my iphone remote with songbird but it gets stuck "connecting to songbird library". Haven't tried the web remote yet..
Ok, the web access doesn't work either. Get an error message: "Safari cannot open the page because the server cannot be found."
I'm not able to pair Telescope neither with my N900 nor any laptop: I'm only get "You have chosen to open XXX
which is a : application/x-dmap-tagged from http://My-IP:3689 What should Firefox do with this file?"
Is there something wrong with my configuration?
nickm
Awesome, works perfectly.
