Wikipedia Extension (MaxVersion Reupload) Marko

(MaxVersion Reupload) Displays the Wikipedia page for the current artist.

Wikipedia Extension (MaxVersion Reupload)

Description

Displays the Wikipedia entry in the bottom content pane from en.wikipedia.org for the artist currently playing in Songbird.

I'm not the author! All I did is to update the Version to make it compatible with current players.
I took it from http://addons.songbirdnest.com/addon/1726 or http://addons.songbirdnest.com/addon/10

If you are the author of the add-on please contact me in any case! If you want to maintain this add-on, leave a comment. By downloading this add-on you agree to not make me responsible for any harm or damage done with this software. Further to not hold me responsible for any law or regulation broken.

Maintainance and functionality :
I'm just a beginner. Read a trick how to update the max version of old add-ons from "reup". I know a bit about Java and C and managed to get a little bit into Songbird.
If you have any wishes (perfectly: and you know how to do it), I will have a look at it.

Reasonable ideas (please do not wait for these to come OR show me how to do it OR do it on your own and I will add it within the shortest time possible. My Email prog checks for new comments):

  • Option to run in a seperate tab instead of a pane
  • Option to only run in the library tab, currently runs in all tabs open
  • Option to choose Wikipedia language

Works greatly on XP with Songbird 1.2.0 and nearly 60 add-ons.

I'm not the author!
Use it at your own risk!

If you tell me what to do and how to do it, maybe I can maintain this add-on. ^^

Alizée!

Hey Marco, you just made my day with that screenshot =)
Though you didn't have to delete the rest of the songs from it! They are all superb!

Artist   Title            Time    Album
----------------------------------------------------------
Alizée   Moi...Lolita     4:27    Gourmandises
Alizée Loi ou Toi 4:18 Gourmandises
Alizée   L'Alize          4:18    Gourmandises
Alizée   Gourmandises     4:15    Gourmandises
Alizée Amélie M'a Dit 3:48 Mes Courants Électriques

How did I do? :p

@Gh0sT: ^^
I suppose the my lovely programm did merge the white objects into the picture, but rather left a layer with the objects in the file
or
you just love Alizée too much and therefore the visible rest was enough for you to recognize the tracks.

Ah I see the last option is the right one :P
My Data tells me:

Artist Title Time Genre Differenz:
----------------------------------------------------------
Alizée Moi... Lolita 4:27 New Age (" ", blank is more)
Alizée Loi ou Toi 4:18 New Age
Alizée L'Alizé 4:19 New Age (é) Time difference
Alizée Gourmandises 4:15 New Age
Alizée Amelie M'a Dit 3:51 Pop (é is missing) Album has only "E" and not "É", time difference

But hej: Nice try. You got me *top*

Excellent extension, thanks to all who have made and amended it.

Only missing a couple of options for my money.

1) to run in a seperate tab instead of a pane
2) to only run in the library tab, currently runs in all tabs open

@2friars:
1+2) reasonable options. Problem is: I'm not very much into Songbird coding. If you know how to implement these options (f.e. looking into source code of similar extensions), I would try to implement it. Else I'm too busy with studying and preparing for exams.

great addon, but it would be great, if there was an option to switch the language
Does someone know, wich configuration data has to be changed to change the language?

@linux4ever:

I found a workaround to change language:
its in the directory-structure:
"chrome" - "content" - "wikipedia.js":

search for

url = "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/" + escape(keyword);

and replace "en.wikipedia.org" with "de.wikipedia.org" for german or "fr.wikipedia.org" for french. Just follow the specific wikipedia language-code.

If Songbird plays a song from "Hans Zimmer", then it opens with default settings: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hans_Zimmer
