yet another add-on with no thought for linux users -- great!
Device support for MSC devices.
Updating for Songbird 1.10.2 release.
yet another add-on with no thought for linux users -- great!
why can't I install this? the button looks gray... I can install some, and others don't
I'm running 1.4.0b2, Build 1284 (20090928175908) under Windows 7.
I want to set it up to automatically transcode non-mp3 files to mp3 but under settings -> Music Transcoding -> Manually specifiy bitrate and format the drop down is empty. According to the timeline most of this seems like it should be in the build. Am I missing something?
I have an MSC device that can also be extended by an external memory card, so it shows up as 2 separate drives (in this case, F: and H:)
Your plugin only shows the internal card.
Can you fix this?
Can someone help me - this addon if it worked would make Songbird perfect (for me), but the "Install" button is gray.
Have they disabled it?
guys, check the bersion history: http://addons.songbirdnest.com/addon/1667/versions
it doesn't run on 1.2, you have to install a nightly, or wait for the 1.4 final
Isn't MSC device support just using regular file copying?
Seems like it should be straight forward to support it on all platforms.
In my opinion Songbird developers require should add-ons to support all platforms.
This mish-mash of platform support sucks and it makes Songbird less than useful.
great ! but have a little problem... my phone / mp3 player (Sony W300i) is well detected and added in Songbird, bu not the extension card I use on my phone for stocking all my music...
how do i install it? the 'install' button is greyed out.
Just bought myself a Sansa Clip+, set it to MSC mode and plugged it in, and now I'm ready to rock with Songbird! Oh wait... what? Hold on. Something's not right. My device won't show up. Oh, I see. The MSC addon is not available for Linux. Great. You'd think something as simple as "Mass Storage Communication" (which is pretty much what USB storage is) would be extremely easy to implement across all platforms...
At least my Sansa Clip+ (MSC mode) works fine with Amarok, Banshee, and RhythmBox. Makes me wonder why I still have Songbird installed on my Linux computer?
(Of course, the MTP addon is also not available for Linux! Too awesome!)
foldersync works on linux quite well.
Is there any way to set a static root directory for the library? Like Music\Artist\Album\Songs? On the HTC Hero all synced music files are dumped into the root directory...
No support for Mac or Linux? Really? I mean, at first, I can understand. But after 5 months?
Any plans about Mac version?...
I agree with the others about Linux support. People can already sync with Windows using proprietary software. How about some love for the folks that have no options?
No linux.. no party..
Songbird should just give up. Lets ask google for a music player.
Working great on Windows 7 and my Android phone.
@ dirruti, seank, kildon, & windows2linux . . . ditto here, I completely agree. I love the UI and look and feel of songbird, but I need something that actually works with a music player, be it iPod or other media player. I still use Songbird from time to time, but have started using Banshee more and have no problems using a Sansa m240 with it.
Please add linux support. This add-on is getting promoted for use with Android devices, and a lot of us Android owners and Songbird users are also linux users, so it's really disappointing that this doesn't work for us.
for Linux and Android just use folder sync
It would be nice if I could turn off trancoding. I don't need it for my Rockbox powered player and it only copys MP3s...
I'm using the latest version 1.4.3 on Mac.. but i can't download any device support add-ons (iPod.. MSC.. MTP)..
I'm new to Songbird but I've looked every just to see a sign of my ipod or my Windows Mobile sync feature and i couldn't find my devices nor anything with the word Sync on it.. :) ...
Please help me if u can.. and thanx a lot in advance..
No Linux or even Mac support? Does you even want people using Songbird?
A question to all of the people saying "just use the folder sync plugin": what on earth is the point of this plugin at all if you can use the folder sync plugin under Windows too?
Honestly, I'm starting to think Poti wants Songbird to fail.
Yet another Linux vote here. I suppose there's little use complaining about the lack of support, given that the developer only has an interest in supporting more popular platforms.
Songbird had such lofty dreams!
?
On Mac with 1.8 beta 1, My Sandisk Sansa Fuze only recognize mp3 files when calculating size used by Music, photos and other. So as almost all my music is Flac, it's almost all occupied by "other". Related, in the left panel, under my device, in Music, it only list mp3 files, not Flac.
But the real big problem is that I cannot sync Flac files to my device, it says "Completed syncing device with error(s)".
where the fuk is the mac support, i cant sync my palm pre

FolderSync can be used on Windows because of the platform-independent code in it. It would make no sense disabling Windows support just to say it is an alternatice for MSC Device Support.
By the way, FolderSync can be used not only for device sync, it can sync to any folder. So you can use it to copy Songs to external hard drives, and to keep those up-to-date.
If you have additional questions about FolderSync, feel free to ask them at the FolderSync Page.
Can somebody explain (or point me to an more detailed explanation) what exactly this add-in does? How thorough is its syncing ability? Does it sync metadata somehow too? What does it do?
how can i use this??? ㅠㅠ 2mm1130@naver.com
i hope this works
Memory leak on 1.9.3 when a disk is connected. Had to disable.
Sorry, forgot to say: I am running 1.9.3 on Mac OS X Lion (10.7.0).

I've just installed Songbird 1.2.0 from rpm for fedora 11. How can I get support for USB Mass Storage Devices?
Many thanks
