yet another add-on with no thought for linux users -- great!
Device support for MSC devices.
1.6.0b2 update.
yet another add-on with no thought for linux users -- great!
why can't I install this? the button looks gray... I can install some, and others don't
I'm running 1.4.0b2, Build 1284 (20090928175908) under Windows 7.
I want to set it up to automatically transcode non-mp3 files to mp3 but under settings -> Music Transcoding -> Manually specifiy bitrate and format the drop down is empty. According to the timeline most of this seems like it should be in the build. Am I missing something?
I have an MSC device that can also be extended by an external memory card, so it shows up as 2 separate drives (in this case, F: and H:)
Your plugin only shows the internal card.
Can you fix this?
Can someone help me - this addon if it worked would make Songbird perfect (for me), but the "Install" button is gray.
Have they disabled it?
guys, check the bersion history: http://addons.songbirdnest.com/addon/1667/versions
it doesn't run on 1.2, you have to install a nightly, or wait for the 1.4 final
Isn't MSC device support just using regular file copying?
Seems like it should be straight forward to support it on all platforms.
In my opinion Songbird developers require should add-ons to support all platforms.
This mish-mash of platform support sucks and it makes Songbird less than useful.
great ! but have a little problem... my phone / mp3 player (Sony W300i) is well detected and added in Songbird, bu not the extension card I use on my phone for stocking all my music...
how do i install it? the 'install' button is greyed out.
Just bought myself a Sansa Clip+, set it to MSC mode and plugged it in, and now I'm ready to rock with Songbird! Oh wait... what? Hold on. Something's not right. My device won't show up. Oh, I see. The MSC addon is not available for Linux. Great. You'd think something as simple as "Mass Storage Communication" (which is pretty much what USB storage is) would be extremely easy to implement across all platforms...
At least my Sansa Clip+ (MSC mode) works fine with Amarok, Banshee, and RhythmBox. Makes me wonder why I still have Songbird installed on my Linux computer?
(Of course, the MTP addon is also not available for Linux! Too awesome!)
foldersync works on linux quite well.
Is there any way to set a static root directory for the library? Like Music\Artist\Album\Songs? On the HTC Hero all synced music files are dumped into the root directory...
No support for Mac or Linux? Really? I mean, at first, I can understand. But after 5 months?
Any plans about Mac version?...
I agree with the others about Linux support. People can already sync with Windows using proprietary software. How about some love for the folks that have no options?
No linux.. no party..
Songbird should just give up. Lets ask google for a music player.
Working great on Windows 7 and my Android phone.
@ dirruti, seank, kildon, & windows2linux . . . ditto here, I completely agree. I love the UI and look and feel of songbird, but I need something that actually works with a music player, be it iPod or other media player. I still use Songbird from time to time, but have started using Banshee more and have no problems using a Sansa m240 with it.
Please add linux support. This add-on is getting promoted for use with Android devices, and a lot of us Android owners and Songbird users are also linux users, so it's really disappointing that this doesn't work for us.

I've just installed Songbird 1.2.0 from rpm for fedora 11. How can I get support for USB Mass Storage Devices?
Many thanks
