Thumbs Up this add-on is cool :)

Adds a bottom display pane that displays information of the selected track.
This Addon was first created as a re-skinned Version (by toe_head2001) of an old Detail-AddOn.
Now it has got some more features and got totally re-coded.
Features
Version 0.1
Showing some importent details in the pane, proof of concept
Version 0.9
Use of current APIs, so more fail-safe and compartible
Version 1.0
Free selection wich information should be displayed (If something is missing for you, leave a comment)
Localizations for the entries taken from Songbird itself
Version 1.1
Switching between Selected and Played song
If the Add-On doesn't work at your machine, please post here!

If somebody want to code some features' implementation, write a comment!
Please post a comment and/or rate, don't be afraid posting bugs and ideas!
Note that POTI, the company behind Songbird, disabled comments on add-ons a long time ago. Sadly, there were no visible intentions to bring the comment feature back, as it was announced at first.
For this Add-on, please send comments, ideas, bug reports and stuff directly to me via eMail (my username at abwesend.de) or as a PM in the Nightingale forums
Songbird doesn't seem to include new features currently, which makes version bumping rather unnecessary. E.g. the current version is compartible until Songbird 3.0. If somebody finds issues with a songbird version, please contact me, for example via the nightingale forums (getnightingale.com), as I do not test on Songbird anymore.
Thumbs Up this add-on is cool :)
Thanks toe_head2001. This looks great. Can't wait to see where it goes.
It only shows the informations, when the Track is selected. Wen I'm surfing in the internet and would know more about the title, I only see the Tag in my language (Title: Titel, Track: Titel-Nr. etc.)
@freaktechnik
All those issue are known, but thanks for the feedback.
There's a reason why the release notes say Proof of Concept.
@rsjtdrjgfuzkfg
I would be will to continue working on Details Pane, if I had someone to help me with it. Are you interested?
@toe_head2001
I would be interested to work on this with you.
I'm new to Songbird and XUL but this seems a good add-on to begin to work on.
I worked a little on it :
- Localizing captions OK
- Making the pane auto-size OK
- Showing details of the now playing song + switch OK
- Showing informations for music on the internet Almost
- Choosing which metadata is displayed No
- Now Playing List add-on and Directory Browser Later
@rsjtdrjgfuzkfg
What do you mean by "and in the media view mode with a button" ? Why would there be something outside of the pane ?
@rsjtdrjgfuzkfg
I've done that, it is now working exactly the same way that the "album-art" pane at the bottom-left.
But this seems to correspond to "Switching should works in the pane mode same as Album Art as works" that's the "and in the media view mode with a button." that I don't understand.
Could you details what kind of button you are talking about and where he would be ?
@rsjtdrjgfuzkfg
Ok, so it's done ;)
@loicfevrier
Thanks for working on this. I'll try to get ownership of the extension transferred to you.
@loicfevrier
Thanks for working on this after toe_head2001!
One small feature suggestion: would it be possible to display both the folder and the file name (without folder) in 2 separate fields in the details panel?
Sometimes the value of "File location" is so long that the filename at the end can not be displayed in other extensions.
Thanks
Maybe change the spelling from "Moddified" to Modified.
I was really only looking for a filetype category as well. (ie. Filetype: M4A)
Sorry to labor but Channels? Who's listening to monophonic music? I think we can assume that information is rather superfluous and people are generally listening music in stereo from the last half of the 20th century.
And what's up with the album art? I think Songbird's default album art pane does the job. Remove it or add an option to hide it please.
Lastly, I think the use of ellipses (...) and keeping the columns for each series at a standard distance instead of, for example, a long album name pushing the remaining 3 columns of tag info over. Looks messy.
It's so useful! I use it since SB 1.1 Avoid you need to use much columns in library, cause all the track info info is inside.
Please, loicfevrier, update it!
Hello
Is this add-on still alive? Just wondering...
I stopped working on this, and had the ownership transferred to loicfevrier many months ago, because he said he would work on it. He never uploaded a new version, and I doubt he is even working on it anymore. At this point, I'd still say the add-on is open to anyone will to work on it. Development discussion should take place on the Get Satisfaction page.
NOTE: If you get this installed of 1.4.3, it works just as it did on older versions of Songbird.
Thanks toe_head2001 for the clarification.
I'll ask rsjtdrjgfuzkfg on his Details addon page if he wants to work on that one then.
It's just missing an max version update and maybe a File Location field to fully replace his own addon.
Cheers
@rsjtdrjgfuzkfg
Thanks a lot!
Maybe toe_head2001 has a way to contact loicfevrier to aks him to transfer the ownership... Or I can ask my fellow champs or some POTI guys about how to proceed... As you prefer.
Ok, i'll do that, no pb :)
The owner of an add-on can't transfer the ownership themselves. You have to contact a Songbird admin, and I've just sent a message to stevel to take take care of the transfer.
Cool Beans! I hope you're going to do these also:
-Nothing Playing/Selected messages like in the album art pane
-switch between 'now playing song' and 'selected song'.
-localized labels
-make the pane auto-size
-choose which metadata is displayed
Very Nice!
I think lgmt1985 means the messages as described here
In the preference dialog it says DetailsPane, and Detailspane in the title bar. All should probably say Details Pane.
You should remove the "unsupported" tag on the right side of this web page.
Really a good job, rsjtdrjgfuzkfg. Thank you so much.
The comment section doesn't display all the text, could you change that please ? I'd love to see the tracklist while listening to a mix :)
Is it possible to have file type as one of the selections to choose from. File location is sometimes too long and messy just to find out this,and would be neat to just be able to display file type( both would be good).
Thanks.
@rsjtdrjgfuzkfg: Great upgrade! Thanks! :)
Hi rsjtdrjgfuzkfg
Do you think that implementing an "edit details" feature in your add-on is feasible?
It would be so nice if the "Edit Metadata" popup up window could be diplayed in a right or bottom pane (hence not modal)..
Thanks :)
Thanks rsjtdrjgfuzkfg
I'll wait, no pb :)
Yes, I agree, actually only those fields already editable in the built-in metadata editor should be editable in the pane
I want to use the DetailsPane to display only the text of the Comments field for the playing (or selected) track. By disabling all other fields and the album art, the DisplayPane displays the Comments field all on one line only, and truncated to the width of the pane. It'd be nice to have the text wrapped to multiple lines within the pane, and also to be able to hide the field header "Comment:".
Could you make it possible to set the amount of columns/rows the user wants to show?
for example: I use 12 details but I'm forced to show it in 4 rows and 3 columns. What I actually want is it to show in 3 rows and 4 columns.
thanks
Thanks for your quick reply, works great!
Another request is to make the actual information about a song (Pirate Jet, Gorillaz, Plastic Beach) stand out more from title, artist, album etc.
suggestions to do this are perhaps by setting a smaller space between them, by making the song info bold or by setting title, artist, album etc. (light)grey.
See image to see what i mean
Thanks!
Great thanks.
I Appreciate your work
I have been to the Preferences of this addon several times, disabling several of the default information fields I'm not interested in, and enabled others. It says that all changes will take effect upon the next restart of the addon, yet skipping to the next track, shifting view from Details to Equalizer or mashTape and back, changing tabs or even restarting Songbird (1.8.0, Build 1800 (20100830150218)) itself does nothing. There they are, the same defaults of which I care for only half, and none of the ones I care for.

This is going to be my most useful extension for the bottom display pane. Thanks for putting it together. If there were a way to choose which metadata is displayed, that would make it even better.
