For some reason, the "Install" button here just brings me back to the top of the page. How/why could this be?

@benexclaimed: Hey, that's exactly what happened to me! I thought it was my computer... I will try to check out, where the problem is. Until then, it is still possible to download the file in your favorite web-browser and install it by using "tools" -> "add-ons" -> "install".

Me again.
I've thought of some things that can be fixed/improved:
1. Could you try and see how it looks like with this base:
http://img194.imageshack.us/img194/9798/basecopy.png
It's a bit darker, more transparent, has some patterns on it and a "no cover art" sing. Overall I think it would look better.
2. Don't know if this is possible but I have a little problem. Some of my cover art isn't perfectly square, so some of it ends up looking like this:
http://img32.imageshack.us/img32/7650/05222009164426.jpg
I get these gaps between the album cover and the intended border. I was wondering if it was possible to stretch the covers so it they would be 184x184 pixels and would be right against the border on top and 2 px from the bottom border.
3. Don't know if only I have this problem, because in the preview pictures you made it appears to be correct.
I made the border 186x184 px so there would be 2 px for the progress bar between the bottom of the cover art and the bottom of the border, but for me the progress bar is beneath the border not above it as it should be so there's an unfilled 2 px gap between the cover art and the border.
http://img35.imageshack.us/img35/9123/05222009175450.jpg
4. The name :D
I think it should have a normal name, not Vass Style. I was thinking something like Simplicity or Purity, something like that...

Again, thanks a lot mate, you've done a brilliant job in only a couple of days, didn't expect it to be ready that soon (L)

@Vass: Thanks for your suggestions.
1.) Sure.
2.) I see what I can do, no promises.
3.) Can't reproduce this. Can you give me the name of the feather you are using and your OS? Something seems to interfere...
4.) Okay, I'll rename it to "Simplicity" ;)

Which font is used for song title line? I don't seem to have that installed. OS X Leopard.

atreiu

@Stuffy: It's called "Corbel", a Windows-Vista Font, I'm sure you can download it somewhere. Currently, if you don't have it, an ugly Serif-Font shows up, that's just an accident by me. In the next Version, it will show at least the default OS X Sans-Serif-Font ;)

3. I'm using YABS and I'm on Vista. I tried it with both Aero turned on and off, no luck.
But it's not such a big deal anyway, if it's to much hassle then forget about it. 2 pixels here or there... :D

Thanks again.

I kinda like the original background better than this one with the patter, the pattern looks like the image didn't load right, at least to me. I like the darker base colour though.

I'll let Vass' decide. (Changing it back would take just 1min.)

Yeah, I agree. I have a dark wallpaper so it doesn't look that bad but when over a lighter background it does look a bit weird.
The problem is though, I only have the original base and the current one saved, I didn't save the darker background without the pattern and now I can't remember how I got from the original light gray base to the darker one...
I'll try to reproduce it tomorrow.
I'd still like to have somekind of pattern or something on it though, maybe just a smaller grain, lighter version, I think without it the base looks too plain and, well, a bit boring. The look I'm going for is so that the stuff under the skin would look blurry or smudged but I have no idea how to get that effect. You know, something like the effect you get in Aero: http://img30.imageshack.us/img30/7/05242009001807copy.jpg
Anyway, maybe I'll make a couple of versions and we'll see which we like best...
G'night

@Vass: Oh, I see. Such a blur-effect isn't possible of course. It would have to be rendered live, depending on the background. But if you are looking for an Aero-Style-Effect, you might want to take a look at this deviation. And this tutorial has a very nice approach, too. I think something like that would go nice with Aero, too. Good luck ;)

Oh, here is something, that probably comes closer to what you want.
Basically a transparent white background, probably with a very light and big cloud-pattern. The light border is one of the keys for this effect, but I have seen better ones than in this picture.

Right, quick something I came up with this morning:

Thanks for the tutorials atreiu.
I'm going away for pretty much the whole day now so probably won't have time today, see how this one looks and I'll make something new tomorrow.
Bye.

I do not like the 'photoshop clouds' effect, it looks very cheap. Could you do something else? The thing you came up with this morning looks nice!

Vass: If you want to do something with reflections, can you send me two images? One with the plain background, and one with only the reflection-layers? Because than i can overlay the reflections over the whole player, and sandwich the controls & album-art between your two graphics. I think that would look even better. And take you time, there is no hurry. It's done, when it's done.

(PS: I'm not a big fan of your "No Cover"-Image. It looks to dark & heavy, imho. I would try a less hard transition-effect (lighter colors, less color-span) and see how it looks, if its a little bit transparent, too. But that's only a suggestion ;-)

I think you should make a OS X version of this skin! It already looks very much like the Stacks grid view (http://iuseapple.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/leopard-stacksnewapplaucher.jpg). All that is needed to make it perfectly blend in with the Leopard environment is to make the background a bit darker, change the fonts to Lucida Grande (OS X default font) and make the border a bit "thinner".

@Stuffy: You sound like you know what you're taking about :-) Don't you want to make a OS X - Version? You can take this skin as starting point and you can take a look at the Skinning Tutorial.

Would it be possible to fake the shadow by using a png with a shadow as bg?

Right, sorry for the delay, see how this looks - base: http://img11.imageshack.us/img11/7937/basej.png
and the overlay layer: http://img34.imageshack.us/img34/112/overlay.png
Made the no-cover image light-blue, I think it looks nice, let me know what you think.

@Coeluh: It's not hard to implement but that would mean I'd have to resize the background image, which means atreiu would have to mess around the code because the all the stuff would be out of place etc. I just think it would be too complicated + I imagine it would look weird if you also have the shadow enabled in PurePlayer. Are you having trouble getting the in-build shadow to work so that you want this done?

I just got a little idea for an add-on - a library search-panel for PurePlayer, like the one in the main player in the top right corner. It's annoying having to switch to the main player every time you want to listen to a specific song. I made a simple mock-up:
http://img34.imageshack.us/img34/2374/05292009111404copy.jpg
It would like slide out from behind the player when you press the arrow button.
What do you think?
If something like this has already been made and I just can't find it then let me know...

@Vass:
Thanks for the graphics. I'll update "Simplicity" this weekend.

About the library search panel: From the first day I worked on Pure Player, I have something similar, but still different in my mind. I want to have a winamp-like, dockable and hide-able playlist to search the library.
But I don't have enough time for all my ideas, so this project is on hold.

The "Pure Playlist" (I already have a name ;) should be an separate, independent add-on, that should work without Pure Player, too, but share the skinning & interact with Pure Player. So, if anyone have a lot spare time and feels like he wants to start developing in this, he can just leave a comment and I will tell him more detailed, what I have in mind. :-)

Yes, I already implemented an option for this (maybe some people don't want to stretch their cover art). It's shipping in the next PP update.

This is by far my favorite skin for Pure Player, but it's a bit too wide. Is there any way to make it resizeable?

@NEtransplant: No, unfortunately this one isn't, sorry. You will have to edit the graphic files and change the css in the source files to make it smaller.

This might be my favorite PurePlayer skin, but I do wish there was a way to access the library without having to revert back to full view (unless there is a way, and I'm missing it). See the iPhone skin if you're not sure what I mean.

@benexclaimed: Yeah, you mean the missing "JumpTo"-Button. Currently you can only access the JumpTo menu via shortcut (CTRL + "J").

@Vass: Do you think there is place for this button, somewhere? I'm not sure if there is a place, where it could fit in... (personally, I don't need a button for this, I use the shortcut)

Oh man, I didn't even know about this JumpTo thing, it's pretty much exactly the search-panel I wanted :D Thanks for letting us know :)
As for the button, how about under the ratings, something like this: http://img46.imageshack.us/img46/4852/05312009093927copy.jpg

Awesome skin a few suggestions
- add a volume controller
- could u make the backdrop transparent so it matches with any colour background I'm using (not just my grey ones). or allow the user to change the opacity and/or colour of the backdrop?
