Very nice idea.. this is actually the miniplayer i would be using. However, here is what I am getting.. i have installed the beta pureplayer. Using windows VISTA.

@Omega: I'm not able to reproduce your problem. It works just fine without any issues for me in Vista.
1.) Can you please try it with Aero disabled, again? (VirtualBox doesn't support Aero)
2.) If this doesn't help, you also can try a new profile? (maybe another add-on or something is interfering)
3.) Any other customization Software running on your system?

There is one bug:
When you switch from a song with album-art to a song without album-art the old cover remains instead of showing the awesome bird DJ ;-)!

It happened (to my old profile) when I started to play a song at the first time and PP tried to load cover art. After couple of Songbird restart, PP works fine. I tested in a new profile as well, but PP works fine.
However there is a problem with rounded corner in solo mode. Looks like window shadow isn't off but I set it. http://wiki.songbirdnest.com/@api/deki/files/883/=ppbeta.png
Everything fine in allied mode.

You mean, with same pure player - setting (hide the shadow), in allied mode the shadow is hidden, but in solo mode it's not? That's wired. Do you have the same problem with the old Pure Player Version?

Actually, I have not even been able to get the basic Pure Player to work properly after i reverted, and my profile had a lot of work in it that I do not want to haggle with at the moment. If you know of a way to redo my profile without starting fresh, please let me know. However, for now I am gonna try to handle it maybe on the weekend.
So right now I have no Pureplayer installed at all.

About the misplaced elements (like AlbumArt):
I suspect the problem is the resizing of the window: Songbird does remember the last dimension of the Pure Player and tries to restore these values, while Pure Player tries to set a new size in order to fit with the skin. Theoretically Songbird should set the size first, than Pure Player should change this size. But maybe these two things are interfering. The dimensions Songbird remember, are somewhere stored in the Profile, but I can't access these.
Please try the new beta 2, where I tried to solve this issue. And update this skin here, too!
If you still get the wrong layout, try the provisional option "Reset layout" in the context menu.
Can you two please give me feedback about the Compact-Skin, too? Do you have the same problems there? That way I can determinate, whether Pure Player or this specific skin is the problem.
@deOmega: I didn't meant you should try to migrate into a new profile. I meant you could just create a clean secondary profile (while keeping your old one) and test if Pure Player works there. Because if this doesn't fix the problem, it doesn't make sense to migrate your profile into a new one anyway.
@Hiromacu: I totally forgot that you are on XP, too :-P The shadow should now be deactivated correctly, but i need your confirmation because I couldn't reproduce this issue either.
@martin_bighomer: the album-art in the 0.7beta2 now should change to the "no-cover"-state correctly.

It looks the same with aero on or off. This is what it looks like. I have not created teh new profile as yet though, will let u know if that works, but as it stands, it is somewhat unusable. But I know you will get it resolved. :)

I should add that this is what the cover art skin looks like with AERO on, while it looks like what you have in your image with AERO off.

@atreiu: Ohhh...now I understand. Yes I had the same shadow problem in solo mode with Compact-Skin too. After I updated PP to beta2 the shadow problem in solo mode still persist with all skins.
I did a test and I found something. Basically there are two starting points to go to solo mode.
1st: from Songbird,
2nd: from PP allied mode.
- In the 1st case, if I switch to PP solo with any ways (I mean: context menu, feather button or view menu), the shadow problem appears.
- In the 2nd case, if I switch to PP solo with the context menu of PP allied there is no problem with shadows but any other ways are no good. So if PP allied has the focus when Songbird switches to PP solo everything fine.

@deOmega: Are you using YABS or NABS, when you get the misplaced album art? Or which feather? Because the feather seems to interfere somehow, too. Please try PurePlayer out of default Gonzo for me.

Yes, i am using YABS. I almost always use YABS. But the problem persists across default Gonzo as well as NABS.

By the way, when i click on 'reset layout'... songbird disappears, though its presence remains on the task bar. I usually have to close songbird to get it back.
This weekend, I will be revamping my Songbird, so will see if I have any problems at that point.

@martin_bighomer: beta3 isn't out, yet ;) All the fixes I did in the last updates will only kick in, when I release beta3 (probably later this day).
@deOmega: The problem had several causes. One cause was YABS aggressive Volume-Bar mod, another was a problem in the Pure Player - Skins and at last there were problems in Pure Player itself. I'm pretty confident, that beta3 will fix most of the issues.
PS: yeah, "reset layout" wasn't working correct. I think I fixed that, too. But I really hope this option will not be needed in the PurePlayer final anymore.

However, I think when you start the Pure Player the "always on top" feature doesn't work correctly.

@martin_bighomer: Can you specify your problem with "always on top"? Is it with pure player "allied" or "solo"? Does is stay on top if it shouldn't or doesn't it stay on top if it should? Can you provide steps to reproduce the problem?

all of a sudden, the problem doesn't occur any more.
I have checked all the positions (pure player; pure player allied; and the skins). It's all right!
Maybe there has been a problem because I've just installed beta3.

- shadow problem disappeared, PP now looks good :)
- cover art and controls are good (on center) :)

- if Songbird start or restart with state remembering (I mean in allied mode) cover art pane of Songbird stops working (doesn't show selected or now played cover art). I have to close it and open it to make it work again
- PP doesn't remember its size between skin changing (I mean switch from Current Feather to CoverArt and back)
And something else:
- miniplayer button is too low on Compact Glossy (just some pixel up)
- drag & drop area is too small, very hard to move PP (maybe should make visible drag & drop areas)

with that beta3 update, the album art is now centered and everything seems fine so far, except that.. i am using the old profile and not getting that fancy layout with the cover art view.. but it is fine for me as is for now. Maybe i will wait until you move out of Beta before I redo my profile etc.
Actually, there is an addon I use that I would like you to try to make sure that is not a culprit because it is well integrated with songbird:
Please try BirdTitle and see if u have any issues with it, because that is an addon I feel I must have.

* Small drag&drop area: known problem, but hard to be fixed (I can't enable the text for click-through, like it's possible in 0.6). Depends on the layout of the skins, too (small skin, small areas). I probably can't fix this before 0.7 final. (It's annoying but no deal-breaker, imho.)

Well, BirdTitle is working somehow on PurePlayer (it seems to be using the options for "Miniplayer"), only the scrolling didn't work for me. But afaik this is something you have to ask the BirdTitle-Dev for. If I can contribute with changes in PurePlayer, I'll do that for sure, but the BirdTitle-Dev probably knows much better & faster what to do.

Hm, very strange. Two more questions:
1. Do you see the round corners in the default and the compact skin? (If you have them enabled, of course.)
2. Do you know how to use DOM-Inspector? Then you could check out the <window> element and try find out, what css-file sets the background-color to black, instead to transparent. I would love to do it myself, but I can't reproduce this problem in my Vista (without Aero).

The top two are with rounded corners, which shows u a little issue.
The middle one is the same regardless of border setting.
The bottom are withOUT rounded corners.

@deOmega, and you didn't have this issue with Pure Player 0.6? It looks like the known problem with Aero to me (afaik the Aero-problem can be identified by the very left column of pixels. If some pixels on the very left are transparent, but the rest of the background is not.)

I dunno what happened, but i clicked on the inspect button after giving you that info.. and I ended up with the covert art image having gibberish on it, I then switched to compact and then back to Coverart, and this image showed up. :) AT least it looks the corners are now white instead of black. :)
Do not force me to try to tell you how it all happened. :) AGainst a white background, it looks perfect :)

In Dom Inspector, please look for the "computed style" of the background-color:

Can you give me a screenshot of the player with "round-borders" enabled, but aero disabled please? It should look fine then, correct? (Please disable aero before you start songbird)
The Aero-problems is the same old problem. I would try to look into it, but Virtual-Box doesn't support Aero and no one of my friends uses Vista... so I can't do anything but hope somebody else would try to fix it somehow.

01.) Create a new profile without any add-ons.
02.) Import some musics.
03.) Install PP beta3 and two new skins.
04.) Start playing a song.
05.) Set coverart pane to Selected song.
06.) Open PP allied pane (by view menu or Ctrl+Shift+P).
07.) Switch to PP solo mode (by context menu or view menu)
08.) Switch back to Main Player (by context menu or Mainplayer-Button)
09.) Select any song.
10). Coverart pane is still in "Nothing selected" status.
'Now Playing' status works well, but 'Now Selected' doesn't.

With aero disabled. It LOOKs EXACTLY like your screenshot now. It is actually perfect in that case, so not sure i need to do a screen shot. correct? So the problem does seem to be aero.

I think the reason i did not get it to appear correctly initially when aero was disabled, was because i did not do the one thing you suggested: Turning off AERO BEFORE i launched songbird. I know, dumb, but it is Friday. :)

In the default gonzo pure player feather I can't put the volume to limit. Then it becomes mute!

pkcastela: kind of, I'm working on it. Currently you can move it in two ways:
1) grab on the little gray lines ( - ) between the buttons.
2) hold CTRL, move mouse over the Pure Player, and grab anywhere you want.
