SamplerBox is my brand new add-on for Songbird, it lets you play sounds samples with the pane interface.
- With the Content Pane you can change presets, set and play sounds.
- With the Service Pane you can only play sounds.
You can also play sounds with hot keys : (somes doesn't work good)
- Ctrl + F1 for sound 1
- Ctrl + F2 for sound 2... etc.
There are 2 presets for now :
- None (reset all sounds slots)
- Drum Sets (Drum sounds !)
In the future, you will be able to save your own presets :) also Loop option is planned.
For information, SamplerBox can work outside Songbird using XULRunner. Files are available in "branches" folder of my Google Code Project Subversion. Screenshot here.

I love it on Windows, but a separate volume control for the samples would be nice. Also if you could somehow get the sounds off http://www.najle.com/idaft/ and make that into a preset I would love you forever.

Can you provide information on the Songbird build and Mac OS X version ?
For volume control, I want to include it in the beginning, but the component I use in the add-on (nsISound) is kinda limited, there is no volume control yet.
For Daft Punk Sounds, guess what ? It was on my roadmap :D
My brother did rips of Daft sounds, but they are not loud enough, so I will do a better rip and include them later ;)

I'm using Songbird 1.1.2, Build 1042 (20090331141845), and Mac OSX 10.5.6 (the latest version).
When I click on the sampler buttons I get this error message in the error console:
Error: uncaught exception: [Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80520012 (NS_ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND) [nsISound.play]" nsresult: "0x80520012 (NS_ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND)" location: "JS frame :: chrome://samplerbox/content/pane.js :: anonymous :: line 142" data: no]
It looks like you're using the wrong slash since it's trying to get this file:
/Users/nickmarsh/Library/Application Support/Songbird2/Profiles/x7j8hehr.default/extensions/SamplerBox@geekshadow.com\sounds\drums\crash2.wav

hey great add-on!
It would be excellent when sounds could overlap themselves.
So, for example, I press the buttons "Crash Cymbal 1" and "Bell" one another.
Normally, the "Crash Cymbal 1" sound stops abruptly and after this you listen the "Bell".
Maybe, you can modify the add-on so that you can listen more sounds synchronistically.
BTW, the Daft Punk sounds are so freakin cool!

Overlap sounds is not possible with the current component I use (nsISound)
We will have to wait for Songbird to be base on the new XULRunner 1.9.1 to have <audio> tags from HTML5

This add-on is so much fun :-) Thanks for it!
One question: is it possible to add a volume control for the effects? Currently the Volume is always the same, no matter what my songbird-volume setting is. It's okay, but it would be nicer if I could set a volume for the effects, too. (Or even better: set a volume for each single effect :-)

Yep, read the comment above, once we will have XR 1.9.1 I will add the ability to have separated volume for each sound !

this is a nice, simple add-on, and i know how complex it can be to make stuff like this sometimes, so good work. If anyone could make it so that songbird could host vst's though, now that would be amazing.

Oui, les raccourcis ne sont pas terrible je te l'accorde, je vais bosser dessus pour la prochaine mise à jour.

Problem with this under Ubuntu, when I use Ctrl-F2 it closes down Songbird :S

I installed it on win7 64bit and as soon as a song changes i get the windows error:
now-playing-x-skype has stopped working
Windows can check online for a solution to the problem.
-> close the programm.
any ideas what could be wrong?

Your problem is from LiveTweeter add-on not supporting 64bit platform.

his is a really useful add-on and i use it as my bottom pane now. However, can you do me a favor and have the add-on stretch out across the whole area? Right now it's kind of huddled up in a corner. Just a suggestion. Thanks

Je vais voir, mais beaucoup de raccourcis sont déjà utilisé soit par Songbird soit par le système d'exploitation...

Issue:
-Ctrl+F4 grabs the address bar when in the browser/closes tabs sometimes... (Depending on if the bottom pane is in focus or not)
-Ctrl+F10 just doesnt work... hmmm..
