MMKeys (64-bit) firetech

MMKeys patched for 64-bit Linux

Description

This is MMKeys 0.7 (http://addons.songbirdnest.com/addon/21) compiled for 64-bit Linux and including the Songbird 1.1.1 patch by jigso (bottom of that page).

Tested and working fine with Songbird 1.1.1 on Ubuntu 8.10 amd64. (Note that that means xulrunner 1.9, AFAIK the original MMKeys was compiled with xulrunner 1.8 or lower.)

Release Notes

Bump version compatibility (Plugin also rebuilt with xulrunner 1.9.1).

I LOVE YOU!

I've been waiting so long for 64 bit MMkeys! It does seem kinda lagy though.

Thanks firetech,

Addon works great. Unfortunately I had to upgrade Songbird to 1.1.1 in order to use it thus losing other addons that haven't been upgraded to the new release of Songbird.

It doesn't seem to be working for me. It should make key XF86AudioPlay play/pause Songbird, correct?

Doesnt seem to work with Kubuntu Jaunty (though works fine in Gnome). I've fruitlessly (and cluelessly) played with input actions to no avail

To make it work in KDE you simply have to run "gnome-settings-daemon", eg. from KDE's Autostart folder. Or you can choose the "hard" way and assign some dbus-send commands to the audiokeys in KDE settings for hotkeys. That way you don't have gnome mixing up KDE. The commands are actually not that complicated, but i don't have them here right now.

Oh, yes, and by the way: Thank you for the addon! It's a must for linux users.

If your keyboard does not give the right XF86 command to your system, you can use the xmodmap tool to remap them. You can assign any key on your keyboard to be the XF86AudioPlay key, for example. Very handy if your keyboard has some special keys, but they are not assigned to be audio controls by default. I have some stupid "help" button on my notebook - it now starts/pauses Songbird playback.

I had the 32bit version working beautifully on Fedora 10, Songbird 1.1.1. But I just upgraded to Fedora 11, 64bit, Songbird 1.2.0 and when launching Songbird from terminal it outputs, "Could not create the MMKeys instance". A fix would be awesome. : )

I've been waiting for playback controls... It was driving me crazy having to open Songbird every time I wanted to change track or pause.

I am using this plugin in a 64-bit environment with Ubuntu 9.10. Songbird Version: 1.2.0, Build 1146

Works great!
