Apple Remote has had a head start and has many features, Songbird Remote is catching up fast, and is already is more entertaining to use.

i like the app on my touch a lot but am curious as to the difference between the two apps available. maybe if you could give a better idea of the benefits of upgrading to the paid one then more people could give better feedback.

I've tried to make this songbird remote add-on working on my ubuntu 8.10 + songbird 1.1.1 and songbird 1.2a without success. On my windows XP + songbird 1.1.1, remote pro detects my computer. On linux, even with my firewall stopped, it doesn't.
It used to work with iBirdRemote on version 1.0...

ah well i was just wondering as i had the lite remote for the longest time and then had basicly rediscovered songbird recently and saw 2 kinds so i was caught off guard a tad. odds are i'll end up buying it soon. i much rather songbird over itunes and now that i'm jailbroken on my touch i could drop drop itunes nearly completely it i wanted to.

I can't seem to connect to my Songbird. Using Songbird 1.1.1 and Remote Free 1.1.0.38. I am on the same network. Would really love to get this working.
check you have bonjour from apple - is installed with itunes, installed and running
it does not mention this anywhere which i find difficult to understand, seeing as many people are using this as an alternative to itunes.
So it seems bizarre to rely on a strange apple network protocol.
And for three dollars i do think you could do a better job explaining the difference
i like the app. it would be nice if the use matched the Apple Remote for iTunes, as in, when browsing by artist, the albums from the selected artist appear rather than just a list of songs.

Should album art be visible in my ipod? I only see the bird in every song.
Mashtape needs to be installed, running, and visible for graphics to be sent to the iPhone or iPod Touch.

Hi I downloaded this today and am having an issue.
To my mind after artist should come album.
For instance I fancy putting on some Frank Zappa. Not sure what so I navigate to him via artist. I have about 34 Frank Zappa Albums. The logical next step is for the albums by artist to be displayed, but this app does not it jumps straight to the tunes. And worse in alphabetical order, so in essence mixing up 34 albums into a mess.
This is a deal breaker for me so I hope the developer fixes this issue.
I got the graphics now. But it would be way better if you cold show album art. I listen a lot of underground music and the pictures won't match the artist... instead I see pics of animals and people for instance. Not good.
It would be nice if I could choose album artwork or the pictures because I dont always know who it is by the picture

Yes, Rolle those statements are expected, and are not a problem.
But my songbird didn't start at all until I manually removed SongbirdRemote -folder from profile.

Hi, so you've posted this download but there are no instructions on what to do with it. What am I downloading, a file, a program, what? What do I do with it when I get it? If it's a file, where do I put it? Help ?? There's no install instructions, no README, nothing.

Would gladly give feedback and report my problem through the http://getsatisfaction.com/779Media route but it doesn't work from within Songbird or iTunes app store. I've got a problem with Songbird Remote Pro I need help with! Ditto to flang's comment above. Come on guys, you're charging us for a product that is very flaky at best and doesn't often work.
Also I am not a computer geek, I just want to download and play!

The app is great except for the fact that the scroll/scrub bar is not accurate when switching between tracks.
This app is not supported on the 1.7.2 version of Songbird. I hope that this app will be supported as it will be the only reason that I stick to iTunes. iTunes generally has more stability and performance than Songbird (etc...IMO although Songbird is quickly catching up). I hope to see this app on the new versions of Songbird!

Too bad you guys dropped the Ubuntu version. Songbird was the best replacement for Windows Media Player I could find when I migrated my desktop to Ubuntu.

New Songbird Version 1.9.3 is blocking this app "for the moment due to a bad interaction with automatic updates from previous versions of Songbird to 1.9. We're in contact with the author and trying to work with them to find a resolution to this issue. "

When installed songbird crashes upon opening. Have barely enough time to uninstall it before it crashes, about 4 seconds after it opens.
I have the option selected in my songbird (tools -> options -> playback -> "ratings metadata" [x] Store ratings... But rating from my iphone doesn't save the ratings metadata to the files, they only are saved in songbird, not in the file.
I am truly disappointed that Linux is not supported by this add on. Linux is after all the basis on which Android was built. We have a Songbird for Linux, and a remote add on for a Linux based Android system, yet there is no Linux support for the Remote add on. Does not make much sense to me.
