Do you have songbird 1.0 ?
A small extensions which allow you to track the current song state and restore it after songbird exit.
It will restore position, and eventually pause if the track was paused.
There may be a delay between the pause set or the position set, this is due to asynchronous notification of playback events, but will be less than a second.
Feel free to comment/report bug in the comments.
Finally I would like to thanks guys who helped me on the songbird forum (Stevel, aushaus and Mook_sb). (Hope I've forgotten no one ;) )
Updated max version up to 1.9 (sorry guys, but I have no time to maintain this extension, but hopefully it still work). If someone is interested to work on it, he can get the sources by extracting the xpi.
It works!! Awesome job. I am using songbird 1.0. Absolutely great job my friend, this was surely needed.
Looking forward to that pause stuff you mentioned.
Actually, just realized you implemented the pause aspect. Thank you and looking forward to future enhancements, which I am sure you will find. :)
Great Work bmigette! I know a lot of the community will love this addon!
A few bugs I noticed:
-The shoutcast icon gets displayed next to the track that gets resumed in the player-control-bar.
-It resized my Songbird window after restart.
is it possible to have the track in focus in the library view when it resumes as well? Not totally needed, as there are workarounds, but thought I would throw that in just in case it is possible.
Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. This has been a long requested feature. I am so glad to at least have it as a plugin. Thanks so much for your work on this.
bug: In moving from mini player to main size, it restarts the song and may even restart the last song in its memory as opposed to what was playing.
Thanks. I am using the latest version. Also, i was playing in mini player mode for a while.. at least an hour, and when I switched to main, it went back to the first song i was playing when I was in the main view mode.
nice plugin but it seems to take a lot of ressources updating every 5 secs
till songbird can barely respond
it jumped 250% of what usualy songbird takes... I put it a lot higher like 20 sec... it still takes 150%-200%
but it would be nice if it only update when application close
whats the point of updating that often???
this plugin makes my songbird (mac) extremely unstable. looking forward to the next version.
what do you mean... songbird 1.0 never crash :D
I haven't seen songbird crash... for awhile
Awesome update. Mini to main player bug fixed for me indeed. I opted to remember just on songbird close. Nice work.
I'm using the latest version and when I play a song in a playlist, exit, then restart it decides to play it in the library instead of the original playlist.
Correcting this would make it pretty awesome.
thank you... it's so much better like that :D
This idea may be beyond the scope of this addon and more suitable for it's on addon, but here goes...
Say you are listening to an audio book or a long podcast and you want to stop for whatever reason and finish it later. You could have a Pause+Save button, which would store the position info for that file. You can then exit SB or play some music or whatever. When you come back to finish your book or podcast, the position info is accessed and takes you back to where you left off.
Similar to the way Miro does with videos.
Why doesnt this work for me. I installed it, but when I restart songbird it does not resume. Moreover, the preferences are not editable. Is this a bug? If so, how do I report it?
Thanks,
Arun
I forgot to mention, I run Ubuntu 8.10 and the songbird version is 1.0.0. build 860 (20081124135530)
Seconding rolans' playlist request.
Excellent Add-On, cheers.
Hi bmigette
I seems that your add-on and mine (Now Playing List) are not compatible with each other :(
Luckily I've figured out the problem and managed to write a patch for your side of the problem. I've put it here for now. Just look for the XXXMoshy comments in main.js.
Cheers!
I am having some issues now since your most recent update.. If I am in a playlist, the song does not resume on restart-start... The track resume only works with the main library right now.
Thank you. That worked.. and was fast :)
Thanks for the update ;)
I like it a lot, works fine 1.1b2 on WinXP.
I have the same problem like boosh. It resized my Songbird window after restart.
I had to disable it because this is very annoying.
I would like to use this addon but it doesn't work.
In Options it is not possible to change anything except in Dynamic Track and Delay.
I use Songbird V1.1.1
Is there any known incompatibility with other addons?
Thanks for your help in advance.
@bmigette,
Thank you for this addon. I have an issue that I am hoping to outline:
In short, I do not think there is a relationship between this addon and the mini, medium or pure player modes of Songbird.
If I am using mini, main player or pure player, and close the player, if I restart the player, it of course restarts in the mode it was closed in, however, the song does NOT resume for those modes.
However, If i then start a song in those modes (mini, medium or Pure player), then switch to the regular/main player, the song that was playing is stopped, and whatever I last played in main player mode.. whether days or hours ago, would be the song resumed.
Any Ideas? Advance thanks.
Hi folks,
I just updated to Songbird V1.1.2 and the Addon Party Shuffle is not working with this version for this moment.
So uninstall it, cos I honestly don't really need it ;)
And suddenly your Addon "Last Track Resume" was working fine :)
Maybe this information helps also some other users.
Could you add an option so that the track can always be paused when Songbird is opened? That way you could decide whether or not you wanted to resume listening to the last song you were by unpausing it or not. And as rolans suggested, it would be nice if it restored the playlist from last time as well. Thank you for making this addon.
A big thanks from me too. I was on the way to write it myself, but yours is ways better :). The only thing I miss, is a forced "pause on startup" and a froced "begin from start on startup". For songs it is possibly not that fine to start in the middle. For ... books to listen (*cough*) its very fine though.
i was using it for a few days and now it suddenly stopped working, anybody has a clue?
I love this extension. The only thing that bothers me is that the track keeps playing if you didn't pause it before you closed Songbird. Sometimes I don't want this, so could you add a feature to make sure Songbird doesn't keep playing even if the song was still playing?
Hi bmigette
Would you be interested in extending your extension in the following way?

Thanks!
Any chance of getting this working for 1.4?
Its nice.. Works as expected on Songbird 1.2 on Ubuntu 9.04. :)
I really would like this for version 1.4
hi solution for the version 1.4? :(
Just change the Max Version in the install.rdf
It work's fine.
(Tested on Ubuntu 9.04 32bit)
@Schokobecher Great Tip, worked for me. I opened de xpi with 7Zip and changed the max version in the install.rdf, Done...
thanks at all! This the same tip of firefox ;)
Like Firba and Murphy, I would love to see an option to pause the track at startup.
Thanks. Working nicely here.
Installed fine for me, SB 1.4.3 on Ubuntu 9.10, but nothing happens after than. If open the Add-on, it will show the correct location, but SB will not have anything queued nor anything in the playlist,
Doesn't work for Shoutcast streams. If last song is a Shoutcast stream, restarting it makes the player unresponsive.
Cool Add-On.
But as some other users already mentioned, this Add-On resizes the Songbird window after approx. each third restart.
Hello bmigette
It would be nice if the addon on did not retain the last resume position for remote streams (like shoutcast or any other online radio), as it has no real sense to do that, right? The stream just goes on when we stop listening to it and there is no way to listen to the past...
Or at least to add it as an option
Thanks in advance :)
Oh, NOOOOO! It's not working for 1.9.3 version :(((((((
what do we do now ?????
Updated max version up to 1.9 (sorry guys, but I have no time to maintain this extension, but hopefully it still work). If someone is interested to work on it, he can get the sources by extracting the xpi.
That's shitty news.... :((((
I had to go back to 1.8.00 only because of this plugin....
:((((
PEOPLE, please do something!!!!
THAT'S awful!!!
thanks!
This add-on can be updated in the same way as media flow. It's pretty simple. Check out the media flow comments. Happy track resuming.. :)
Hi bmigette,
I'm happy to pick this up and incorporate it into audioBookmarks (with proper acknowledgement of your work, of course).
I need to update audio bookmarks to play a specified playlist on Songbird startup anyway.
The only thing I'm unsure of is how to get the Songbird app. to start playback when its loaded and ready to go- how did you manage that? You can mail me on: Songbird.audioBookmarks@gmail.com
Simon
I just posted Audio Bookmarks version 1.6 which contains Last Track Resume functionality - including 'always pause' and 'always play' options for resumed tracks.
deOmega
I have downloaded it twice but it does not seem to be installing. It is not showing up in my addons list, nor am i seeing the function.
