Game Music kata

Adds support for music formats from older game machines.

Description

Song length/loop handling is pretty crude, but will get better. Options will be added once Songbird supports sending them to GStreamer.
Since Songbird doesn't support reading meta-data from GStreamer (yet), this extension will do it when a song is first played.

Currently Windows only, sorry, but that's all I have time for right now.

Supported formats:

AY ZX Spectrum/Amstrad CPC
GBS Nintendo Game Boy
GYM Sega Genesis/Mega Drive
HES NEC TurboGrafx-16/PC Engine
KSS MSX Home Computer/other Z80 systems (doesn't support FM sound)
NSF/NSFE Nintendo NES/Famicom (with VRC 6, Namco 106, and FME-7 sound)
SAP Atari systems using POKEY sound chip
SID Commodore 64
SPC Super Nintendo/Super Famicom
VGM/VGZ Sega Master System/Mark III, Sega Genesis/Mega Drive,BBC Micro

This is very promising, though as mentioned in the description, it has problems with track lengths and loop handling, which can be irritating if a track ends where it's obvious.
I'm looking forward to updates. I have a lot of files in odd formats that Songbird can't otherwise play.

Cool idea... but after I installed it I was no longer able to play M4A files. I don't know if this is only reproducible on my own machine or if it's like this for everyone, but until the bug is fixed I won't be able to use this.

Kata, this plug-in is a fantastic start. This is going to enable me to use Songbird full-time.

As you mention it has a lot of rough edges, and some formats don't work/crash often for me, but its just a first version. I anticipate your next release!

How do you plan to handle the formats that have multiple tracks in a single file, like NSF? The way the winamp plug creates multiple playlist entries for all the tracks in the single file is really great I think.

Please keep up the work on this!

This worked great on all my nsf files but it completely freaked out when trying to play my spc files. It would play the first second of one file then skip right to the next file. Occasionally it would end up playing an entire file, but then it was right back to skipping from one file to another.

Would love to see some seasoned plug-in developers join this to make it the most complete addon and obviously multi-platform. If only Windows-users will get this it's a real kick in the groin because you already have Winamp while Mac/Linux users does not have the same options :)

Anyway, great stuff that someone started this! Help raise awareness and attracting developers at http://getsatisfaction.com/songbird/topics/support_for_chiptunes_and_video_game_music_formats

thanks
