Work well on Songbird 1.0 - Ubuntu 8.10
Thanks yalvarez
This is a quickly and untested modification version of MMKeys extension.
I hope could help someone until the official support of global shortcuts in GNU/Linux.
To get it work, first you have to start playing the library or any playlist and then the multimedia keys will work, at least for me.
Work well on Songbird 1.0 - Ubuntu 8.10
Thanks yalvarez
Great, thanks for this one. MMKeys has not worked for me on ubuntu since songbird 1.0, but this works great! One thing is that pressing my keyboard shortcut for next track in ubuntu plays the previous track in songbird, and the previous track shortcut plays the next track in songbird. Other than that mix-up it's great to have my global shortcuts back again. Thanks!
Hello yalvarez,
Could you post the source code or perhaps create a 64 bit version of MyMultimediaKeys? I have been trying to compile the original version of MMKeys using the (xulrunner-sdk version 1.9) of the Gecko engine. This is the error message I am getting:
MMKeysModule.cpp: In function ‘nsresult NSGetModule(nsIComponentManager*, nsIFile*, nsIModule**)’:
MMKeysModule.cpp:16: error: ‘NS_NewGenericModule2’ was not declared in this scope
I am sad this does not work with my Ubuntu 8.10 64bit :(. If you send me the source I can compile for 64bit :). steven [at] songbirdnest [dot] com
cool! it rocks!!
Dell inspiron 9300, 32bit ubuntu 8.04, songbird 1.0
Works
Play/Pause button, stop button, when other non-media application focused
Doesn't work
Next track and previous track buttons are switched/wrong way around
I've switched the next/previous keys at http://addons.songbirdnest.com/addon/1412
Much love for your work yalvarez!
hi,
I cant get this addon running on my dell inspiron 6400 (ubuntu 8.04 hardy)
anyone knows what could be wrong?
Hi,
Nice addon but I can confirm that the next/previous track buttons are working in the opposite directions. I have a Logitech Wave wired keyboard and Ubuntu 8.10.
Thanks for the effort in making this!
does not work on my Ubuntu 8.10 x86_64 kernel server machine :(
Is there any way to get a version of this that will install under 1.1.2?
extract install.rdf from the .xpi and using text editor change the maximum version. i.e locate this line
<em:maxversion>1.1.1pre</em:maxversion>
and change to
<em:maxversion>1.2.*</em:maxversion>
save and drag n drop the install.rdf back to the xpi.
and install as usual.
works fine.

Merry Christmas for all!
