Provides the input-selector GStreamer plugin to enable proper media decoding on OpenSolaris. This is built from gst-plugins-bad 0.10.8 on Solaris Nevada build 101a.
This should be used in conjunction with Alfred Peng's latest 1.0.0 OpenSolaris build. This add-on adds the GStreamer input-selector plugin to allow media decoding. If you are using OpenSolaris and using Songbird 1.0.0, you probably want this.

I'm trying Songbird 1.0.0 on OpenSolaris 0811 and not having any luck. I have the GStreamer plugin installed. When I try playing a MP3 or a Shoutcast stream, Songbird says "Songbird has encountered the following media core error: Internal data flow error." I'm using the Songbird tarball, not the package. Any pointers?
Do you have the Fluendo MP3 codec installed?
I didn't have the Fluendo business installed. Thanks. It works now!
Is it widely known that this was a pre-req? I didn't see it mentioned anywhere.
It's a pre-requisite for any MP3 decoding on OpenSolaris (outside of Songbird)... I'm not sure how widely they advertise that though...
I'll make a note of that in the above description though :-) Thanks!
Will Songbird be upgraded in the IPS repository anytime soon? As of today, it's still version 0.5.11.
That's the SunOS version (OpenSolaris is 5.11, Solaris 10 was 5.10, etc.). The version in IPS (as of OpenSolaris 2008.11) is currently Songbird 0.7... it's slated to be updated to Songbird 1.0 with build 107.
Oh, I'm pkg image-updating opensolaris 2008.11 to 2009.06 build111, so the Songbird in build111 will be no less than 1.0. Great!
Hello! I'm running OpenSolaris 2008.11 with Songbird 0.7. I'm trying to install the GStreamer plugin via the Add-ons page within Songbird, but the Install button is greyed out and not available. how do I install this plugin so I can play radio within Songbird? Do I have to install anything within the Package Manager first? or something else? Your help is appreciated.
Thanks, William
This requires Songbird 1.0 or higher... you should be able to pkg update Songbird from the IPS repos.
