A theme that makes Songbird look and feel more integrated in an Aero UI styled desktop.
Description
This theme is a completed, high quality theme. It brings an Aero look to your songbird, and feels much more integrated in an Aero themed desktop. If you find any problems or images that don't seem to fit the Aero UI, please report it, and I'll fix it as quickly as possible. Lastly, please don't forget to rate it. I hope you enjoy this theme.
I promise you, that this is not my last theme, and if you enjoy my work with Aero Bird, keep checking by so you can check out more of my themes.
No comments anyone? Though this theme may seem complete, i think it's time this project starts striding forward by integrating other add-ons for a flawless Aero feel. Any suggestions on where to start?Even if you have nothing to say, maybe you can post a screenshot of your songbird showing off some Aero Bird. I'll be glad to add it under images.

That certainly is what is in the next release. I haven't broken into the CSS at all yet (except to change the tab loading icon into an animated gif). After that, i'll redo the button to have a clearer and sharper look, and that will put the version up to 1.0. My biggest concern with the buttons is the minimize, maximize, and close buttons. I need to find out how to change the layout to accept bigger buttons for those, because right now they're squeezed and too small to be the real aero.

The last update was great! Only tab-bar doesn't really fit in (i think it's the gray background & the selected tab, perhaps the bottom-splitter, too).
And the close-tab-button is messed up, but shows correct when it is hovered!
Can't wait till you integrate mini-player-skin :-)

PS: I really LOVE you no-album-cover art! But it looked a little bit better, when the CD wasn't squeezed into left-top corner. You could leave a margin, same width as the note in the bottom right...

Aero Bird is my favorite feather, but it's not compatible with the 1.0 RC. I miss it. Can't you update it, so that it works with the RC?

Thanks for appreciating my work. I've updated it because I'm sure there are others like you that want it released. It's a not a complete update though. I've been working on cleaning the UI instead of replacing ALL the new icons. Expect 1.0 to be the complete, flawless product that I'm aiming to create. Once again, thank you.

Really minor point, but this addon breaks the restart notification bad on the addons page. The yellow box should be the height of the bar. Great feather

Fantastic skin!! in my opinion i wouldn't mind seeing this as songbird's default skin instead of the gonzo feather but that's just my opinion. A bug i've noticed that has been around for a few versions now is that the title bar on error notification windows is broken. like if SB tells you that importing a few songs from your itunes library has failed. The title bar to that window will look like it has been pulled apart slightly and there are white gaps between parts of the bar. other than that there are a few unfinished areas that i'm sure will be fixed in the next update. The hide sidepane button is one of these problems. Thanks for a fantastic contribution.

Hope you don't mind that I named my feather so similarly that you did. Your feather did serve as helpful reference to look what image was affecting what part of songbird when I started learning theming. I haven't checked this more finalised version though as I was looking one your first uploads but I will have to check this one too to see if our feathers ended up similar too:p

there is a problem with my hide button (that hides the library pane). It seems to be shifted downward. Aside from that, this is one great feather!

Is there any way you can add an "erase" button to the search tab, IE, the little X in the right hand corner. This appears in the gonzo feather but not in Aerobird.

The search bar. It only appears when searching through your library with the default gonzo feather. Its just a little X on the far right side of the search bar that erases everything in the search field. heres a screenshot:

hm. funny thing is, when i was just messing around with the search bar i discovered that the functionality is still there, there's just no button. Clicking in the spot where the delete button should be still erases everything in the bar. Weird. Still hope you'll add in a button though so it doesn't seem so awkward.

Alright, thanks, I fixed the problem. It was a simple css error. I'll have that update pushed out with some other css things I've noticed sometime later today or tomorrow. Got any other problems to fix?

What version are you using? If you're using 0.7, then I'll have to tell to get Songbird RC3 (or wait for 1.0) because those images have different names and stuff for 0.7. It's my fault that i thought it would work on 0.7.
Does this problem happen with Gonzo? If the answer is yes, then it seems like a bad install of Songbird and you should probably reinstall. I'm really thinking you using version 0.7 though, to be honest.

I don't really know about transparency. There might be a way by using the Opacity Add-on be atreiu. As for the minimize/maximize buttons, i've tried to find some way, but haven't found a solution yet. I think I'll ask the Songbird Google Group...

I certainly have. In fact, i'm currently working a Green edition, a sleek black edition. The green isn't coming out too well, but the black is turning out very, very sleek indeed. I'll be naming the black one Aero Bird Pro. Watch out for it, it'll be out late December or early January (i hope).

Concerning colors, rather than upload many differently-colored versions, it might be easier (and more efficient) to break into Preferences and add a color chooser.
While it would take some play to get the color variations to match Vista's color scheme (note that when you choose a color in Vista, it isn't THAT color everywhere... there are offsets for different areas of windows), it would mean that any user of your addon would be able to choose their own color to match their OS.
ColoredTabs (for Firefox) has an excellent implementation of a color chooser, so looking at the source may provide some inspiration in that area, if you like the idea.

I've considered that too. That wouldn't be too difficult either. It would just means that i'd have to write a script or something to change the CSS colors, and then have transparent PNG's on top. However, having different versions also means that it would be perfected, and would avoid bugs. Each different edition will also have something unique about it.

Nope, sorry. I can't unmaximise it. If you look in the picture, you'll see there's no Minimize, Maximize, or Close buttons. I can't seem to find them either. If you know where to find them, or a shortcut to unmaximise, I'll be glad to help. Apparently this problem only occurs on Mac, for I checked the same skin and version on a Windows, and the buttons show up there. I don't know if this is intended, a bug, or maybe me being stupid, but for now I can't minimise. If you have a solution, I'll post a new screenshot right away.

Hey, I downloaded this theme and I really liked it but then I was trying some other themes. Then, I uninstalled those because I didn't like them as much and wanted to use this one again but now whenever I start songbird, it starts up with the default theme, not with aero bird. I have tried disabling it and restarting songbird and then enabling it and restarting but it still doesn't work. Please reply please as I really like the theme but I don't know how to get it working am I doing something wrong?

Hey, I can use your theme when I press: View>Feathers>Aero bird. However, I still has the "default) beside the Gonzo name. How do I change it so Aero bird is the default please.

I don't think you can change the default. Once you pick Aero Bird though, it shouldn't change back to gonzo.

Love this feather. I used to use this as a default before Pro came out. Im definitely looking forward to more iterations!
Just a few suggestions, and I'm sure they're on your to-do list. Implement all of the features from Pro. Like the streaks in the title-bar and reversing those already in the service pane, changing the close, maximize, and minimize buttons, etc...
Also, I'm not sure if this is under your control, but the background in mediaflow doesnt really fit the theme. (I'd love to see the author of mediaflow allow the user to change the background to a custom picture or color...) Is there any way you can have your feather change this? White or blue, something other than black?
Also, the "media pane buttons" addon, the back/forward buttons, and the "new tab button". Can you change the hover effect and maybe even the color of the buttons themselves? Maybe a little more blue and less teal? Some borders? More like the Next/previous/play buttons.
Couple more things I just thought of as I was about to post. Rounded tabs? Maybe? Idk how that would look, maybe try it out?
Also, the selection highlighting in the service pane is a little light... maybe darken that up a bit? Make it look like the song selection highlight?
One thing not to change: The "current track" pane, the one with the progress bar amd rating etc.... I like it. It fits the "aero" theme perfectly.
That's pretty much what I can think of off the top of my head. Ill let you know if i notice anything else.

For me under Mac OS X 10.5 with latest Aero Bird and AB Pro the titlebar disappears. Other feathers like YABS or the Glossy .. don't have the problem.
Is anybody else using this feather under Mac OS X without this problem?
I check the error log but could only find some warnings that seem to even appear for Gonzo... Where else should I look?
Otherwise this seems like a great feather!

I'm a huge fan of Linux, but Qt scares me away from KDE. Plasma has caught my attention many times though. KDE can just plain be so beautiful sometimes.

Looks great, but I also have the Mac OSX problems. Also, you can't move the main player around the screen. You can move the mini player though.

Does this happen to any other feathers, or is it just this one? I currently have no clue what's going on, and i don't have Mac OS X either. If we determine that it's not just this feather that's acting up, it would be a pretty big relief to me :)

well I'm afraid that unless i can get someone with a mac to help me test, this bug will have to remain unresolved. I will try comparing this with with other skins known to work, but i won't get very far because i can't prove I've found a solution. On a better note, thanks for your confirmation.

so i installed this and though it was great. I decided to check out some other skins as well though to play the field. after a bunch i still thought this one was the best and now when i try to install this one again it will not work. anybody know how i can fix this or am i doing something wrong.

What version of songbird are you running? Aero Bird works with Songbird 1.0.0 - 1.2.0. If you are using the appropriate version, then you might need to try a new songbird profile or reinstalling songbird.

I had the same issue. Make sure Aero Bird is still installed and enabled. Right click on the word "Songbird" in the top menu, you can then select Feathers and you should see the list of installed feathers. Click on Aero Bird and your away.

nice feather. i really like the aero look. a suggestion though. try changing all of the default silver from songbird into an auro colour. for example the left pane and the tab bar. i'm looking forward to seeing this feather developed!
