I just usually don't change left-bottom-pane (album-art, for me) and I guessed other people don't want to, too :-)
You could use a button for that one, too? I implement that, if you want.

This add-on adds a button to your status bar to show & hide player controls.
It adds a button to the titlebar to switch to miniplayer and back.
This also supports the Medium Players "More Gonzo" and "Pure Player".
It adds a button to show/hide the Equalizer window, too.
Also it enables the "hide right service pane"-button in library-view. (By default it is available only in browser-view.)
But most important, it adds toolbar-buttons for media-views. Supported are:
* Album View * BirdQuizz * Divided Tag Cloud * Duplicated Tracks * Filter Pane (default) * Ghost Tracks * Griddy * List (default) * List-less Filters * MediaFlow * ♪Photo * Spotbird Artist Browser * Vertical Filter Pane * Grid View * Album List *... Something is missing here? Leave a note!
If you like this add-on, you can help me by translating it on Babelzilla. Thanks.
Big update, some bugs might be on board!
Also some feathers might need an update, to skin the (new) buttons properly.
* 80% rewritten the code, to make it more efficient, especially for MiniPlayer/MediumPlayer/Pure Player
* Fixed some Errors.
* Changed the Layout of options.
* Added new Option: Show Equalizer-Button.
* Added Feature: The states of Service-Pane and Player-Controls should now be stable between restarts, feather-switches and tab-changes.
* Added danish Translation. (Thanks, Joergen!)
If you want to help with the translations, come to Babelzilla.
@atreiu
Very usefull ! Good work !
Yes!!! Thank you!!! I requested this feature some time ago, finally I have it :D
Nice!
that was needed =)
that was needed =)
Thanks you!
The lack of this feature was a complaint I made recently in the uninstall survey.
@atreiu,
You are simply on the ball. Am I to assume that you will be incorporating buttons for the various media views? Stevo just launched two NICE ones.
Much needed - Icing on the cake. Great Add-On!!!
@atreiu
hmm, maybe not needed.. Maybe I need to get accustomed to the drop-down list for views... though the list has gotten longer now that he has added 2 more great ones. Thanks for considering though.
The thing with the media view button is if you go onto the web with songbird, the browser address area takes up that space, but I am sure you would know how to work around it :) Either case, I am one of those that certainly welcome a few more buttons.
Ah... true. My mistake.
Awesome! Thank you!
Gah, damn not being able to edit comments :)
Would it be possible to define where the controls appear?
For instance, the pane toggle buttons can kind of get lost in between other items (last.fm, stylish, etc)
It would also be logical if the toggle buttons were over on the left hand side, along with the service pane toggle button.
Just (another) idea!
@atreiu
Ok, i'll go back to being patient :)
Really appreciate the update though!
Awesome work atreiu! Didn't even think I needed this until you make this extension!
This should be default in the Songbird UI. lol. Thanks for the nifty add-on.
i have a problem. whether i'm in the library mode or browser mode, the buttons to select which pane view doesn't appear, and it's the latest version. help? :)
nope! i'm using songbird 0.7 the latest version.
i'm currently using the default gonzo feather with the personas for songbird add on. does it affect it?
1. Please try to create a new, blank profile with profile-manager. Install only Pane Buttons. Do they show up, then? yep
2. Does the button to hide servicepane-left(!) work in library/playlist mode? You see this button by default, but it only works in library-mode with Pane Buttons installed.
3. Anything suspicious in the error-log?
4. Which Feather do you use?

oh there is an extra close button cos that's the "minimize/close to task bar" add on :) ok sure i will try that and get back to you!
OMG YOU'RE RIGHT IT'S THAT EXTRA CLOSE BUTTON THAT CAUSES THE THING TO BE MISSING!!! Why :(
@atreiu
Your extension idea is integrate since today songbird 0.8.0pre nightly build !
Very handy man, thanx a lot, great add-on!!
Some of what you had are still missing from the integration.. plus, i hope they consider the buttons across the top.
atreiu,
Can't hear from you :). Could you please make this compatible to Songbird 1.0? I read above about it being incorporated, but many of the features were left out.
Regards
Thank u once more, and congrats for being incorporated to the core :-)
GREAT update !
Lol, i thought this add-on was dead when Songbird integrated it into their player. Looks i was wrong. Nice one ;).
deOmega sheds tears of joy!! :)
Really nice update indeed...Thank you!
Very nice work, thank you.
A few things though:
- Add an option to disable the switch media view button. Since all the views have a button of their own (which I prefer), the switch button is only taking additional space.
- I have my player controls at the top and it looks really weird to have the button ti hide/show them in the bottom of the window. I can't really think of way to make this better, maybe add an option to disable the remove the button from there?
- Add a menu option to the "View" menu to hide/show the service pane just like the others on that menu.
That's it :)
Sweet. I really like the MediaFlow icon :)
hmm, the additional media view buttons are not showing for me, and actually removed the list view one.
man, where is the edit post option.. lol.
Ignore my haste.. it is awesome.. i saw the 'known issue' you posted and misunderstood.. Especially not being able to access the option in the regular addon window.
Everything is great.. Thank you.
Man, this is fantastic!!!!!
Hmm, I see some striking resemblance between your preferences pane and mine for Configfilters ;)
This just updated and I lost the icon for the media view – only have list view and pane view there now. You mention buttons for Ghost Tracks, Tag Cloud, etc. have been added, but they’re not showing up for me. Thanks for your work on this.
Nevermind. I just realized the options dialogue has moved to a tab in the Options window. Very nice!
@atreiu:
That is the problem i was trying to explain.. I guess Mark did a better job explaining. hehe.. MY stuff disappeared after the upgrade....then i went into tools/addons, and saw no option to modify the pane buttons, so thought.. darn. And that s when i posted my dismay.. :)
But after going to tools/options/pane buttons, I saw the options there and realized what happened, so i was able to get them back.
Any way of enabling the options in tools/addons? Some modifiable addons have it there while some don't. Never understood why some has their options accessible one way but not the other.
Hi, this is a great addon but I have a small problem with it: It makes the Tools->Options window really wide! About 1050px, which is too wide for my screen on my current setup. Thanks!
Atreiu,
Is it possible to implement separators? Would be nice to be able to put a separator between things that are essentially tasks (eg. Duplicates), and those that are truly views (eg. mediaflow)
Whoever rated this down should be kicked in the balls (you shouldn't hurt girls). This deserves a exact 5 star. Seriously, i added a new profile for some more testing on a feather I'm making, and Songbird just seems so lacking without this add-on. One suggestion though, could you do autohide for the service pane and player controls? That would be pretty neat, and maybe even be a separate add-on on it's own.
Is it possible to have a MINI player button? If possible, up by the min, max, close buttons? We know we could doubleclick on the mini player to get to main app, but would be nice to have a click area for the mini player.
Man, could we get any lazier? :)
Atreiu,
Thanks, I appreciate your feedback very much.
Try rating it 5 to see if everyone else rated it 5, because i think you're bringing down this add-on's reputation. :P
I remember when you first did this addon, the buttons on the bottom right... they had a blue highlight to indicate which pane each button is related to. I see it is basically generic now and still, every time i try closing the bottom pane etc, I always have to stop and try to figure out which really apples to it. (Yeah, I am old and need new glasses.. heard that before :))
I think it would make sense to highlight, even in white, the side that is affected.. I may not be exactly clear, but I am pretty sure you will know what I mean. :)
We need an edit option in this forum!!!!!!!!!!!! Applies, not Apples etc etc etc. lol
Please add listless filters.
Never mind previous post.
But would it be possible to make the service pane stop popping back up when going back to the library? It's kind of irritating...
Or maybe I should make a LOL Cat and stick it in the little pane... "HAi! i'M BAK!" xD
Oh and mouse over service pane button produces notice, other ones don't... Inconsistency is killing me...
Muchas gracias, muy util
No media bottons here for some reason :/
Being able to switch between Miniplayer and Fullplayer in an easy manner is pure awesomeness, I've been missing this feature for so long now!
Good job atreiu :-)
If you add me on Babelzilla, I can help for french translation ;)
Great Add-On... Unfortunately the Mini-Player Button in the title bar isnt working in Mac OSX... At least for me this is the most wanted button of all provided. Maybe you could fix that one for OS X Users an place it somewhere else ;-) Thanks!
Wow!!! Awesome! The button to switch to miniplayer and back is a great idea! Should default in Songbird! You're the man!
Right. Options. That was the problem.
I just upgraded to 1.1.1 and realized the skin I’m using doesn’t have the new button to switch between Miniplayer and Fullplayer. I’m using More Native in Windows. Any tips on how to enable this button for a particular skin? (I’m comfortable digging around in the extensions and messing with the HTML.)
How can I make the bottom panel show MediaFlow?
is there anyway to make the button to go to the mini player go to the medium player instead? I have that installed to use with the YABS and I prefer it over the mini player.
Your extension removes the toolbar button from the extension More of the Same.
Thanks, atreiu. Having an option to put the button to switch to mini mode down in the media player does the trick for me. Looks good! Thanks for continuing to work on this extension.
just got the new version, switch to medium mode works brilliantly thanks for implementing that so quick. Great job!
Don't sweat it, I don't NEED it or anything :)
THANKS!!!!!!!!!
Super! Now it's compatible with Pure Player! :)
Thanks man!
I installed this primarily for the mini-mode and back button. Fantastic job! Very useful, and I'm sure I will use it more as time goes on. Keep up the great work!
@atreiu: With the new update came a bug, as well. If I close Songbird when it's in allied mode with Pure Player and I restart it or if I switch to Pure Player mode when Songbird is in allied mode with Pure Player and I switch to back to Main Player the little feather button is disappears. So the button is disappears if Songbird start with allied mode. The button is come back if I start Songbird alone or I go to the Pane Buttons preferences and click OK.
@atreiu: Eh you're right, all buttons disappear!
I tested the previous version (1.2.0) but same problem. So I tested Pure Player too, and looks like Pure Player (allied) state remembering cause this problem.
I am a new user of Songbird and this and a few other addons stopped me from going back to winamp.
I have been needing a button for quick switching to the mini player and back.
AWESOME!
Great job atreiu!
Hi
Thanks for this excellent add on.
By the way, could the recently unearthed "Album List" be added to it as well?
Thanks
Olivier
Thanks for putting me on to this extension - it's great to clear some screen space by closing the service panel.
However, I have the same feedback/problem as "Bitsbite" - it is unfortunate that the Service Pane pops back open if you return to the Media view from a browser tab. It would be better if it remembered your preference for keeping the Service Pane hidden.
Aside from that, I am a happy user. Thanks!
Have to second what mattp is saying here, that's the only thing that comes to mind with the plugin at this juncture!
@atreiu: Hi! Media View Buttons should go to disabled status when a radio (fe. SHOUTcast) is playing. Cheers! :P
Thank you. Probably equalizer pane button?
When you go from a disabled pane, such as a radio or the downloads pane, and then switch back to your library, it still shows them as disabled. Any ideas on how to remedy this?
@atrieu: all of a sudden, all pure player und the pane button addon don't work any more! I don't know why! In addition, there's no pure player allied in the list!
...this problem is caused by more gonzo ;-)!!!
I wanted to cheep in and say I'm a big fan of this addon! I regularly use it just to hide the service pane. I'd also like to second the request to look into keeping it hidden when restarting the player, and clicking back to my music from the browser. I really appreciate your hard work, You're doing a lot to make Songbird a better player for everyone.
Scratch part of that, I hadn't used songbird in a while. The service pane is hidden between restarts, the clicking back from the browser is the only issue I'm having.
I just installed this, but now my Resume Last Track addon has stopped working. Are these two addons incompatible?
@atreiu: you were right, it was the 'Now Playing List' addon causing the problem - thanks.
The new update has fixed what you apparently thought was quite a difficult problem, so I wanted to say thank you very very much for working on it. The service pane is officially gone for me, and I couldn't be happier (I don't use many extensions from the service pane, and I don't save playlists). The addition of an equalizer button is also incredibly welcome. Great work, Atreiu!
@atreiu: Great update! I like the equalizer button!
But I have a problem with the new behavior of the show/hide service pane. In the previous version default setting was like Songbird works normally: service pane was on in media-tab and was off (automatically) in browser-tab. I used to like that because I need bigger screen when I browsing on the net, so I no need service pane at all (I turned it on just sometimes) but I need it all the time when I browsing in my library, listen to radio, edit playlist etc.. Now I have to click on the show/hide button all the time when I switch between media-tab and browser-tab.
Could you put an option into the preferences to switch between the previous behavior and the new one. Or an option to auto-hide the service pane in browser-tab would be great. Thank you! :P
Great work atreiu! The equalizer button is a welcome addition!
@atreiu: Oh man sorry! I'm so mindless! Sorry again! :P
Hi atreiu, i was testing this add-on with Focus (coming along great. Almost done with the layout! i might need some help with getting the album art in though.) and i believe i spotted some typos found in this screenshot: http://i44.tinypic.com/10h7hj6.png. Those are supposed to be "of" right? I know it's not a serious bug or anything, but i thought i might as well bring it your attention. :P
Any chance of getting this updated for version 1.4?
@atreiu :
Very Good work, for me this add on is a Must Have ! Without this extension songbird is not the same ! Thank you.
Please, update it for 1.4.1
Hi people. Its an excellent work.
This really must be a part of Songbird's basic install. By the way, it would be nice merge "Pane Buttons" and "More Gonzo".
Hide/show service pane in library mode to me is very very useful. Also the fullscreen capability of show/hide player controls.
please update i really like this one =(
please update i really like this one =(
abo
... and the left bottom pane?
