Left Bottom white sparkle are over links

I love it, really cool, 5 stars for you. My only two suggestions are:
-New close/minimize/etc buttons are two small, in my opinion (and maybe too mac-a-like for windows users).
-The white design behind the play and pause buttons (on the upper left corner) make it difficult to distinguish from the buttons and the menu (maybe a bit of transparency?)
Just by chance, I used the background change add on when I had this also working, and I think you could try with more colors, like dark blue or green, as a background. It loos great that way, too.

Great idea with the add-on that changes the background, I haven't thought about that myself but as you said, it can be used to easily change the look and feel of this feather in seconds!
Today's update won't include any of your suggestions, but I indeed have them under consideration!
this is easily one of (if not THE) best feather i've seen for songbird. i really like the play button etc. a bug i've found with your latest update is that it makes songbird the top window. every other window is behind it. i've switched feathers and everything is back to normal. other than that its a fantastic skin. a few things i'd love to see in it though:
maybe the play, fast forward etc buttons highlight when you hover over them (like WMP 11)
i really can't think of much else. its a wonderful skin.

I nearly cannot see the Icon if the music is been played if it isn't highlighted... Pls fix this!
As I wrote in the release note, there is more work to be done before this feather is totally adapted to the new gonzo layout. Therefore, most of this will be fixed in the upcoming release.
I don't quite get what icon you're talking about... could it be the rating stars? I haven't had time to deal with those just yet, but I have full intention to do so. If you would like to, please explain a little bit further which icon it is that causes you trouble.

I discovered while mucking about, if you right click (WinXP) on the nameplate (where the playing song is displayed) you'll get a menu that says "always on top". Un check it and you've got your desktop back with your Sparkle, [easily one of (if not THE) best feather I've seen for songbird].
PS, Songbird 0.6.1. I always keep a stable version profile.

by the way i'm really glad to see this skin make it to 0.7 and that its in the gonzo layout. i've really grown attached to it :) still the best skin i've seen so far ;)
other than changing the colour of a few elements (the sidebar, content pane etc, scroll bars, tabs, the part of the seek bar that has already been played) i think its a wonderful skin. i'm guessing the highlight over the play button etc when the pointer hovers over it is in the next release?

Yeah, that's correct, you'll find an "always on top" option there as you said. I think I've forgotten to add that to the release note for version 0.6.2.0 ( This rule only apply in 0.6.2.0 and not in 0.7.0.0, just to be completely clear. )

Of course I upgraded Sparkle to Songbird 0.7 and the to new Gonzo layout, considering the enormous positive response to this feather, I really feel like improving on Sparkle as much as I can and take it so close to perfection as I'm capable of.
As you said, there are a lot left to do before Sparkle reaches 0.7.1.0, and who knows? Play/pause/stop buttons just might get a little treatment too...
thats the best 0.7 skin so far :D im sure it will get better, keep up the good work! i just have one idea, that the rating stars on the playing song display panel are a bit hard to see. ^^
I'm glad you like my work, and guess what? Your wish will be granted in the next release, as I just finished working on the rating stars! I'll also change the Lastfm icons in the faceplate later on.

yay interactive play/pause buttons! awesome work with the latest release! just noticed though that the song notifier is now totally unreadable because the text is black and your feather has applied the black and squiggly lines on it :( which looks cool btw but its hard to read :)
also the number of items in the library is also completely invisible.

Your support helping me find bugs is just as awesome as my work! I don't use song notifier myself, but thanks to you I'm aware about a bug wouldn't have seen without your feedback.
Of course I'll get on it as soon as possible. Regarding the item numbers ( and other information displayed in that area ), I'm working on that too, I just thought you could play around with 0.7.1.0 meanwhile.

Sorry to be critical, but this feather has a lot of clashing aspects. I like the swirly images in the background and the general black/white/grey theme. However, the list view blue colors clash with this pretty badly. Also, the borders around many ui elements are sharp and awkward. The pane-hiding buttons also need to be replaced to fit with the feather. Other things, like the album cover display look harsh against the background.

There are still a lot of non-feathered areas, just like you mention - the cover display.
Although I'm aware of (most of) these things and I'll do my best to make them blend together.

your theme is magnificent. i like it so much that i use songbird now as my internet browser. i just have one question. it is impossible to read the lyrics of the songs because everything is black. is it possible to change this

I absolutely intend to integrate the Sparkle style on other add-ons to make them blend better together. I promise I'll implant this in one of the next updates; meanwhile you can go to the options for LyricsMaster and select a custom display style.

I just want to say that I think sparkle is a stunning feather--one of my top favorites.
I would, however, suggest a couple minor tweaks, if I may.
First, when downloading add on updates, it's nearly impossible to see the highlighted update http://www.flickr.com/photos/24650875@N05/3096802038/
Second, there is a thin line of background that looks quite out of place between the album art pane and the library view, as well as another to the left of the album art. The very bottom section of the feather (where it displays library size, new playlist button, pane buttons, etc.) also has the elaborate background; I think it would probably look better with just plain black. As it is now, I feel like the bottom pane clashes with basically everything around it.

Just a couple things, first off great skin it's a beauty and keep up the good work! Second when using the lyric plugin thing (lyricmaster i believe) anyways its the pane on the right that displays the lyrics of a song. Using the default skin (you can change skins but the skins dont really match too well with your feather) text in that box is black, which of course doesn't work too well with the black background (lyrics are unreadable). While this is another plugin seperate from your feather it would be nice to somehoe have some integration (there is a option when choosing a skin for lyricsmaster that is "[Current Feather]" so I think there is a possibility of meshing the two.
Aside from some more color options which others have touched on, that's about it. Great job so far.

Happy to hear you are addressing the color issue with Lyrics Master. One more thing, the buttons for moving panes in and out are very hard to find. Would be great if they had more of a contrast color.

How did make the background for the media-control-pane 1) be left aligned 2) Be so big and overlap into the playlist and everywhere else?

2) I'm using both a bg-picture and a bg-color.

Songbird is open source and my Feathers are too. If you decide to make a feather on my build I would be happy if you put a link back to the Original Sparkle. Also, I intend to use the "sparkles" in other themes as well, so if you don't mind I want to keep them togeather with the "selected track/option"-image for myself.

You should work on the album art/drag and drop images. It really burns out your eyes when the rest of the theme is dark, and those images are still the gonzo grey. The volume icons also seem invisible at the moment. There's also an issue due to the fact that you use an image as a background for a highlighted song (i ran into this problem too,lol. Yes, I'm fully aware of the unfeathered gonzo areas, and I intend to make them more suitable. The three things in your screenie, are things I'm well aware of, but haven't put as my primary target on my "to-do"-list yet, I've rather been focusing on the main player mode experience.
But hey, Thanks for reminding me! There been a lot of other things to do lately and therefor I haven't been able to keep my Update schedule.
In the mini player, the text is black and the background is black. This is completely unusable.
The year ended, and no new feather.lol. Can you at least let me see a peak? You can always email me at akilram+sb_community@gmail.com :P

Due to the amount of minor updates requested for Sparkle, my other project will be set aside for a while. Now that Sparkle has got it's reputation back, I'll do all I can to make sure it stays there. I don't want to release a second rather good looking but not finished feather, since that would give me a tremendous amount of work, by requests from users. And there are still some pieces of code I haven't figured out how to edit yet, but it'll come to me! ;D

Hi there - noticed a potential problem with sparkle compatibility - not sure if it is your feather or songbird's but thought I'd flag it - when I run sb with sparkle on a secondary monitor - my preferred way of viewing it - and I go to maximise sb it seems to overflow by about 100px to the right of the screen meaning everything on the righthand side of sb can't be accessed operated (i.e. minimize (_), expand, close (X)) disappear. It's not an issue on my main monitor only on the second. I run xp. Someone else has had this problem - find it at the sb forum and search for sparkle.
Otherwise, I'm loving the feather - thanks!

Hmm, yes. I read that post a while ago but then the thread-author never replied so I didn't get a chance to know if he solved the problem... And I never managed to duplicate the "bug".
Is it possible that your second monitor runs on a larger/smaller resolution than your primary? If yes, then maybe your songbird somehow fetches the resolution from that one?
If anyone else can confirm they have this problem too, please post your set up here, and if you don't have this problem while running Songbird with the Sparkle feather on a second monitor, let me know that too so we can solve this.

some contrasts arent easy to read like on the lyric master unless i highlight the lyrics i cant view them! background and text match! awesome feathers though only one i use.

I know there are some issues with unreadable text, especially with the lyrics add-on.
This seems to be a high priority bug to many users and therefore I'll do my best to work my way to a solution as soon as possible.

1. the text in the search box (for internet) is very hard to see
2. I don't know if you're supposed to cover this, but install adblock plus, and you'll see the firsttime start for adblock is red.

I changed colors on those parts in the last version, and perhaps I swapped two colors by accident. I'll take a look at this right away.
When you say Adblock is red you probably mean the background color of a pop-up menu or element. This is because I've used this color whenever there's an alert of some kind ( i.e; multiple meta-data editing ) to make the user aware of what he/she is about to do. The red color will by no means be the final one, but for now it'll do.

Overall I like the look of the feather, but the Stars and Last Love/Ban buttons are nearly impossible to see against the playback box (Nearly white on white)

Hey, this is a great looking feather, but I have one grievance: I can't use it, because due to my desktop being black, I can't see the player's borders and it really makes using songbird hard.
Is there a chance that you add some borders to the feather so it can be easy to see where the player ends and the desktop begins for us black/dark desktop using types?

I really really like this feather. It's my favorite one out there, but it's not the one I use. There are a few color issues that I think need to be worked out. Menus are sometimes impossible to see. The play bar is a little too bright compared to the rest of the feather. The lyrics add-on (as many others have said) is problematic. Though I would call that more the lyric add-on's fault for not allowing more customizable font color. I'd change the background, but I don't want t lose the cool sparkle design on the right. That's all I can think of at the moment. Oh, and I wish the bottom left pane didn't cover up the design there either. Maybe it could be moved up? =)

Yeah, congrats. I think this is the oldest feather out there for Songbird. Maybe it's about time you hurry up and get to 1.0 :P
Sorry to double post, but there are some things that are kinda bugging me in this feather.
1) The volume buttons at the ends of the volume meter are really hard to see.
2) I'm missing alot of album art (my metadata is all messed up), and i really wish you had a fancy default album art. Something with all those awesome curls you have going on in the background. The current one doesn't look too great in mediaflow.
3) Lists (such as the downloads and add-ons in the options window) have a repeated background. I understand that maybe editing this could make the library playlist highlight look bad, so if you think that you can't, I'll completely understand.
Other than that, this feather is pretty cool. Good luck with bringing back Kakadue as well.

I've had a lot of "real" work to deal with the latest couple of weeks ( and still have ), therefor I haven't come around to work with Sparkle as much as I want to.
The Volume Bar is something I've been thinking to change without coming up with a solution good enough yet. And sure, I could put some awesome curls on those missing albums in mediaflow.
The options menu isn't the prettiest - I know :-P
I'll see if I can fix the repeated highlighter later, actually I think I've done that in a feather I've never released.
I'll grant Sparkle to version 1.0 whenever I feel that it's finished, and since I haven't included support for other add-ons like Lyrics Master etc, a 1.0 release is pretty far away from now.
( Kakadue is coming along real nice btw :-D )
Schwadegan... Hello, I was wondering if you'd be willing to give me permission to make my own feather using some aspects from Sparkle. (Just not the trademark background graphics, those are yours). I'm a bit obsessive-compulsive and though I've been using Sparkle, on and off, for a while, I'd like a few bits of it merged with another feather or two. If you say no then I won't bug you anymore, I'd just like to build a feather suited to me. You and any other feathers I use to make mine will receive most of the credit! I just don't want to do this on my own without your permission first.

But I've got some notes:
- it's not possible to mark more than one title (Ctrl + A functions)
- if you mark a title, the background of it is usually too dark and the script is difficult to read ( lighting up the script would also help, I think)
- the script of the LyrikMaster is ugly .. ok that's not necessary .. but ugly :D
Otherwise this feather is one of the best I've seen so far. :]

Thanks for your comment Mai, however I don't understand why Ctrl + A wouldn't work. I've never had any complaints about this before or experienced it myself.
There are some issues with text areas that can be quite difficult to read, I'll deal with those as soon as possible.
About Lyricmaster, be sure to use [Current feather] option to use Sparkles built in style. If you already are, all I can say is that I think it should be kept relatively clean so it'll be easy to use while singing along.

Thank you for this beautiful feather. The design is just what I looked for and is very appealing. I stopped using it though, because I have to change lots of tracknames now and the contrast in the info-menu of the tracks isn't really easy to read. (But I intend to return asap ;))
I hope you can fix this soon, because I think this is also a problem for other people.
Anyway, your Kakadue feather is also gorgeous! +5!

Hey! It would be awesome if you could take some time to skin my add-on: BirdTabs.
It got most of the functionality, but I'll open declare that I suck at designing and layout.
All you have to do is to make a file called birdtabs.css in the root of your feather.

I like the feather. Gave it 5 stars.
Though there still are some issues as some people already mentioned. The red border for example around the Cover Art is absolutely HIDEOUS. :-D
Another tip for the design: The showing of the song playing in that half transparent white case is nice, but I think it is still TOO white. Since the design of the feather is so dark. Another tip from my side: I like the curly things on the bottom of the player, but they shouldn't go over the total bright of the player. As the curly swirls on the top of the player, they should stop at some point. It's good, that they are bigger than on the top, but not the whole length of the player would be better, I guess.
