thanks a lot for the effort!! but i did encounter a few problems with the extension. First of all the extension doesn’t show up in the Cover Fetcher Priority but I guess it is the second last.fm entry in the list. secondly after installing the extension the album art manager didn’t find any additional album art even though I know the covers are available at discogs. For example it didn’t find the album art for this release: Fennesz – +47° 56’ 37” -16° 51’ 08” but the cover is up there at discogs: http://www.discogs.com/release/14953. Any idea what the problem might be? Another issue might come up due to the fact that for many releases there is more than one entry in the discogs database.
I’m using: Songbird 0.6.1. Album Art Manager 1.4.1 on OSX 10.5.2 and Windows XP

i have discovered that you need to label your metadata (id3tag) exactly the same album name as displayed in Discogs to retrieve the art….
eg.
Smashing Pumpkins – Mellon Collie & The Infinite Sadness = NO ART (reason: &)
Smashing Pumpkins – Mellon Collie & The Infinite Sadness CD1 = NO ART (reason: CD1)
Smashing Pumpkins – Mellon Collie & The Infinite Sadness Dawn to Dusk = NO ART (reason dawn to dusk)
Smashing Pumpkins – Mellon Collie & The Infinite Sadness = ART
the search parameters are very narrow…

All my MP3s have the exact same name as displayed at discogs since my tagging software uses the discogs database for proper tagging. so that can’t be the reason for not working.

I just uninstalled the last.fm cover fetcher and now the discogs add-on works perfectly. strange but true. thanx again slate8.

Hey,
It worked really well alot of the time, but for a few albums it "fetched" the image associated with the artist, not the particular album. This happened for several "Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers" albums. Just a though.

This extension requires an update. I even changed the RDF, but it still didn't work.

Ok, I managed to update the extension. It looks like all the methods for plugging into the Album Art Manager had changed in a recent version, so I had to rewrite them using (drum-roll) the most recent LastFM Cover Fetcher as a template.

Slate8, if you want, I can send you an updated XPI file for you to upload here. Other than that, does anybody know of a way to update an extension that you didn't write?

Just another vote for getting this updated to the current Songbird v1.1.1. I have a lot of vinyl that is not normally recognised so this add-on would be perfect.
