ok, i have a problem with this extension. the genre list is missing an “ALL” option. so this cause to automatically some stations are are not sorted under that categories be “missing”. and example is www.RadioPirata.com, on shoutcast’s website is found by searching “mexico” while on this add-on don’t know where to find it. because under “latin genre” is not listed.

When I startup songbird I get a notification saying a script is taking too long and it asks me if I want to stop it or let it continue. It points to this code: chrome://shoutcast-radio/content/favourites.js:52

Since either v0.4.5 or v0.4.6 I have been unable to add streams to Favorite Stations. The Favorite column simply isn’t there, nor is there a right click context menu [in the SHOUTcast list]. These are in the Favorite Stations list, and sadly, I can remove streams from this list. Help please!

The extension is great!
The only thing I’ve noticed is, when you point your cursor in the “genre” field and then click outside of it with your mouse and try to open a (cmd+T) new tab, the pointer will still be on the previous field so a genre will change to the T initial one, instead of just opening the tab.

I use the Shoutcast website all the time to listen to Old Time Radio. When I search for “old time radio”, on their site, I get about 20+ stations. How can I do this within this add-on?

This extension works great for me. Is there any chance of getting the track information to show so it will work well in combination with other addons such as mashtape?

@stevel: any useful info in my console log? I have since uninstalled, restarted, and installed to bring the return of the favorites column, but still no column picker.

But I have another little quibble: I’d like it if clicking the ‘SHOUTcast’ item in the treeview could set focus on any already opened tab with the SHOUTcast search instead of always opening a new tab. Could this be done?
This AddOn has really really really increased the appeal of Songbird for me! Coming from Winamp this was THE feature that I missed! I practically only listen to streams these days and was contemplating the daunting task of maybe having to try and write an addon like this!
And for those querying about the track info not showing, this AddOn is not responsible for that: it’s a known bug with GStreamer occuring under Linux only (maybe OS X also, not sure…).

Unable to write in the space for the comma-delimited list of genres. the box is only a thin line.

In WinAmp you can select All Genres - can you make it work like they do?

What I would really like is a way to Export/Import my Favourite SHOUTcast streams.

I mostly listen to underground music and it takes some hunting around to find good streams - when I find them I don't want to lose them!

Then I could easily use Songbird on different computers (e.g. work + home). It would also make things easier when your computer/Songbird installation breaks.

Also what about the option to add a custom Label (name) to a stream? Sometimes they use stupidly long names, or put too much self-promotion / advertising.

why are there some internet radio stations that are not on shoutcast? like bbc radio 1?

Is there any possibility to add sations to the list?

Since the latest update, I cannot play any stations. They seem to start playing, with no sound, for about six seconds and then quit. I am running the Songbird 0.7beta on Vistax64. Thanks.

None of the stations in my Favourite list work any more. Streams NOT in my favourites do work.

Does this mean we have to delete and rebuild our favourites again?

Are my suggestions feasible? They should be relatively easy to implement.

Does anyone know if it's possible to scrobble shoutcast radio to last.fm from within Songbird? Some people have accomplished it here using Winamp http://www.last.fm/forum/21717/_/340809/6 but I haven't been able to get it to work :-(

I love this plugin but I ahve two problems. Since Songbird 1.0.0rc2, Build 842 (20081113122156) it will only play one song at a time from a stream then it stops. It shows the next song but never plays it. The other problem is it wil lplay 1-2 seconds of a stream then stop. Restarting songbird fixes this but the other problem is chronic.

forget my last post. Songbird 1.0.0rc3, Build 856 (20081120214438) has fixed my issues. Didn't notice it was released when I posted.

For the next release can you add a pref to enable AAC streams. Currently they are disabled at line 360 in the direcoty.js.

P.S. I hacked the artist/title update code you wrote in SVN into the current release. Works great with LyricMaster now.

I am update for last version with "Bug 13842 - Update artist & title metadata from stream" resolved, but my Songbird can't read artist and title data from my shoutcast server stream:

Problems I've noticed
-After listening to radio station, can't switch back to music in library
-Can't open the .pls file, only can browse through directory
-Some radio stations don't work (comedy104 for example: http://classic.shoutcast.com/sbin/shoutcast-playlist.pls?rn=691798&file=filename.pls)

Does anyone else think it'd be awesome to easily mark what songs you like?

There are a lot of songs I've never heard before and I'd like to store them for later review. Since you've figured out who's playing, and what song it is (in the titlebar that's a link to the shoutcast radio) I think it'd be very useful to just store those

Even if the storing wasn't really interactive in the first iteration, store the date/time, what station it came from, the artist and song title.

Thoughts?

Real Player has feature called PerfectPlay (caching streaming sound). That way, one can listen over again some songs that catch one's attention on radio (and even record it with AudaCity... ) Would like to see that funcionality in my favorite media player somehow... Through your add-on it would be really nice.

How con I Do playlist of radio? Except the favorit playlist ;)

i'm using songbird1.1. and win vista and shoutcast doesn't work at all!
when I click on the shoutcast icon it is only loading and songbird crashes.

same problem here with Songbird 1.1 using Windows 7 64bit and Shoutcast 0.7.2.1018

It helped for me to create a new profile!
AddOn works perfectly now.

i know i mentioned this before, but being able to store favorite songs (just like stations) would be great. Having to open textpad and keeping a list of new songs I like is a bummer.

Clicking on shoutcast is causing songbird to crash

Great job on this plugin! I'm transitioning from VLC to songbird mainly because your plugin. I would have installed songbird regardless, but I can do almost everything with it on a normal basis and keep VLC as a light weight backup.

HOWEVER~
I was wondering if you would be making a SHOUTcast TV plugin aswell?

The only thing I see wrong with this, is it does not have a refresh button to refresh what songs are on the stations.

Is there a possibility to get Radio options for Songbird as there are in iTunes ??

only thing i miss of iTunes is the Podcast and Radio options as compared to Songbird...

Finally fed up with iTunes and so glad I found this! Would like to be able to add and find radio stations by call letters. Have some favorites (like WWOZ) that I can't find by genre (like Zydeco).

uninstalling SHOUTcast won't remove it from the service pane. the same thing happened to BirdTune a while ago.

I was having problems with Shoutcast not working with Songbird 1.20. I would click on Shoutcast in the left pane, but it would never load. To fix it, I simply backed up my profile and started with a new one. I'm sure there is a specific file one could remove from the profile without having to start over, but I didn't have much to loose.
